If you know how to use blush properly, it can be your best friend. But if you’re making any of the common mistakes in the video above, it has every right to be mad at you.
That’s right, it’s time for another ‘crimes against’ chapter.
In case you’re unaware of the series, it’s become bh’s Sam’s personal mission to rectify the mistreatment of beauty products (first it was lipstick, then foundation), through her ranting and raging.
Watch the video above if you dare… OR if Sam’s wrath is too much to handle, the nicer version can be found below.
BLUSH CRIME #1 Wearing the wrong shade
Not all shades of blush suit all skin tones. As a general rule, cool tones should stick to blush with pink undertones and warm tones should favour blushes with peach undertones. Find out more about which shades will suit you here.

BLUSH CRIME #2 Only applying it to the apples of your cheeks
Applying blush only to the apples of your cheeks can be very ageing. For a more youthful appearance, blend it up towards your ears, or in a specific direction according to your face shape.
BLUSH CRIME #3 Wearing a hole in your palette
Once you find the right shade of blush, you should treat your palette like a princess. Swipe your brush gently across the entire surface, rather than wearing a hole in the middle.

BLUSH CRIME #4 Too much shimmer
We’re all for strobing, but mixing your highlighter into your blush can make you look like a shiny tin man. Keep the tops of your cheekbones as your main highlighting point – not the entire cheek.
4 blushes we love:
- Arbonne Cosmetics Blush
- Rimmel London Mono Blush
- Mirenesse Marble Mineral Blush Face Powder
- Benefit CORALista
Have you committed any of these blush crimes? Which product would you like to see in the next ‘crimes against’ video?
I think I have been guilty of doing some of these blush crimes, thanks for your tips Beauty Heaven.
