Consider these products the mood rings of beauty. The only difference? Your colour-changing lipgloss won’t expose deep-seated insecurities or jealousy, they’ll simply dictate what shade of berry best suits your lips. Call it magic or science (spoiler alert: it’s the latter), these shade-shifters have redefined the term ‘universally flattering’.
How exactly do they work? This form of customisable beauty works by using adjustable pigments which react to the pH or temperature of the skin, delivering one very gorgeous tailor-made shade.
From tinted moisturisers to clear gels disguised as a rosy blush, here are the best colour-changing products that we recommend every skin tone tests out.
Ciaté Colour Flip Heat Transforming Lip Cream
Selling Sunset fans, rejoice. This shade-altering lippy is part of Christine Quinn’s collaboration with Ciaté. Like Christine herself, the formula is dynamic, bold and will always impress. Using a thermo-active complex, watch as the shade transforms into a deeper colour as dictated by the heat of your body.

espressoh Glassy Blush
Sitting in the pot, you’ll find a translucent gel. Sitting on your skin, however? You’ll experience something entirely different. In what can only be described as magic (or for the sake of science, a reaction with our pH levels) upon contact with the skin, espressoh’s Glassy Blush instantly transforms into a dewy, flush-like finish that has been formulated to suit all skin tones.

Dior Lip Glow Lip Balm
Is it not enough that Dior’s lip balm provides 24-hour hydration and uses mango butter to nourish chapped lips? It even comes equipped with their signature Colour Reviver technology which delivers a tailor-made shade of pink.

Trinny London Skin Perfector SPF30
Developed to be the ultimate complexion-perfector, Trinny London’s barely-there formula can be worn underneath makeup as a blurring primer or alone as a tinted moisturiser. Don’t let the grey, speckled appearance of the cream trick you; using microencapsulated pigments the formula adapts to your skin tone upon application. Prepare to be wowed.

Clinique’s Almost Lipstick in the shade ‘Black Honey’
If TikTok hasn’t already introduced you to this colour-changing lip product, allow us the honour. Crafted with transparent pigments, Clinique’s Almost Lipstick adapts to your lips and enhances their natural colour. The most surprising part of all? It’s actually in stock.

What do you think about these colour-changing products? Have you ever tried a pH adjusting formula?
Interesting products, I do like the look of lip products.
Same here!
The Trinny one has got me in with it’s spf30!
spf30 is a good bonus. The Trinny sounds good to me too.
I’d so badly like for it to be 50+ though since we’re in Aus
Yeah I know what you mean and lips don’t seem to get covered by my visor either
I’ve always wanted to try Clinique’s Almost Lipstick.
I don’t have TikTok but I would like to try the lipstick.
No I am not interested in Tik Tok but would also like to try the lippy
I keep always carry the Clinique Black Honey in my clutch and keep a spare. The Ciate Lip Creams are a bit gimmicky but might appeal to people who can manipulate two shades using one product. I have the higlighter in the range as well and loooooooove it.
These beauty products are similar to perfumes in that it is the pH of an individual’s skin which contributes to how it looks or smells.
But I’ve heard complaints that the results are often very very similar between individuals
Love goodies like that, they’re fun
I haven’t looked at the Clinique lipstick yet but think it’s time I did.
I love Clinique Almost Lipstick in Black Honey but never knew it was colour changing?
An interesting product range, would like to try
What interesting products!
yes they actually sound lovely -love to try them all
The Dior Lip Glow Lip Balm looks like a good product to try.
I like the name and the idea but don’t know if it’d be worth the price
Look like fun but some are a bit pricey for something you don’t actually know what it may look like.
Commented the same thing above, it’s a big commitment!
yes that is true! It would be hard to try out a tester of these too I expect. It would be a bit like rolling the dice and hoping for the best! : )
I have never tried any of these although they sound lovely especially Clinique’s Almost Lipstick in the shade ‘Black Honey’
Never tried any of these before
The Clinique shade looks beautiful but would be too dark for my complexion.
Beautiful Lipsticks and Lip Shine Products so many good ones to try.
I want to try all of these products, they look interesting and im curious to see what shades they are on me.
I love the look of glassy blush and woud love to see how that turns out on me
I reckon that just because they change colour doesn’t necessarily mean that colour would suit you.
We were obsessed with colour changing things in the 90s! Would love to try these.
i would love the trinny london product
I’ve not tried a ph adjusting formula but I have a Ciaté foundation and love it so would be interested the the Ciaté Colour Flip Heat Transforming Lip Cream.
I’ve never had much luck with colour changing lipsticsk – they always go too pink on me but I’m very tempted to try the Ciaté.
I like the sound of the Clinique one.
I’d love to try them all, especially the Trinny London.
Clinique Black Honey looks good, I am left wondering about the science behind these products – very interesting.
Black honey was one of my ‘big/pricey’ beauty purchases… will always be a fave
Would love to try this products.
Wonder if you had a temperature how dark the ciate colour Flip Heat Transforming lip cream would go?
Haven’t tried any of these yet, but keen to try the Trinny primer.
the spf has me on the fence!
That is so cool! Like magic tricks.
My inner teenager loves these!
They sound like fun products
I keep repurchasing Ulta3 Moisturising Lipstick in Green Magic: it’s green in the tube but applies as a vivid pink, which suits my cool-toned complexion.
Really interesting idea – particularly useful in foundations or tinted moisturisers.
I’d be worried about it not working properly on ethnic skin tones though
Thats a thought – mine isn’t that but I have a strong mediium tone that’s unusual
The Glassy Blush looks super interesting! I would love to try it! X
I’ve heard not-great things about colour-changing products as most people have very similar pH but maybe these are worth a shot
I’d like to try Clinique’s lippy
I’ve found a couple that I love!
Ciat and Dior looks like luxe packaging!
Nope to all the colour changing lipsticks. My lips are already very pigmented and I hate pink, so they all just make them look pinker! Just give me a clear gloss or balm instead!
I love the Clinique Black Honey, that’s a staple product for me!
Im not a lip cream kinda gal, I prefer matte lipstick
