ICYMI the Golden Globes took place on Monday (8th January), and ever since then we’ve put on our detective hats, cracked out the magnifying glasses and started sleuthing for all the need-to-know makeup tips and tricks. And here’s what we’ve found…
Golden Globes Makeup
This year we saw a lot of elegant, sedate and dare we say simple makeup looks grace the red carpet. Which brought us to wonder, are these lippies all the same?! We know, we ask the big questions. But ask we did, and sure enough, yes. With four A-list stars wearing the same lipstick (three of them with the exact same shade), we had to find out what all the fuss was about…
Chanel Beauty
Brands took this red carpet to partner with top makeup artists, meaning we saw (stunning) full faces of one particular brand on our fave celebs. But the look on everybody’s lips is… Chanel 31 Le Rouge. The (somewhat) new release features a truly sensational glass-house that makes refilling with a new tube a dream. Available at Chanel for $235 , the lippy may be slightly out of our price range. Thankfully Chanel Rouge Coco Flash is a (slightly) more affordable $65 at Myer. We’ll let you take a look at the stars and be the judge.
Golden Globes Stars
Emily Blunt
The Oppenheimer star wowed in a sheet tulle dress with an equally jaw dropping glow (we need to know her skincare routine ASAP). Her lip of choice? Chanel 31 Le Rouge in ‘Rouge Beige’.
Margot Robbie
Superstar Barbie was on show, from her well mastered doll-like stance to her elegant makeup. Margot’s lips were lacquered with, you guessed it, Chanel 31 Le Rouge in ‘Rouge Beige’.
Brie Larson
The ultra-relatable Brie took a minute to totally fan-girl over J-Lo while on the red carpet, but regained her composure (makeup fully intact) and continued on her stunning way. And through all that? Her Chanel 31 Le Rouge in ‘Rouge Beige’ remained completely unscathed (we love a lippy with some staying power).
Naomi Watts
The long-standing, never disappointing Naomi looked breathtaking on the Golden Globes red carpet, and again as she presented the award for Best Actress in a Motion Picture (Musical/Comedy). And you know what stood out amongst the glimmering lights? Her Chanel 31 Le Rouge in ‘Rouge Croisière’. Yep, Naomi’s the odd one out, but a chic one nonetheless. We loved the ever-so-slightly more coral tone against her skin.

Do you like the ‘nude’ lip colour? Would you splurge on the new Chanel lipstick?
It depends on the specific nude colour, it would have to suit my skin tone
Also, $235 for lipstick is insanely expensive
It is, and the case would get dirty over time, i think i’d rather buy a whole new lippie each time
Yes it would have to be something exceptional to warrant that price( Fools and their money)
Thats no maybe. Would be nice to be able to buy this lipstick and not worry about how much it was.
If I splurge on a Channel lipstick it will have to be a red one.
Is it only that price because of a refillable case?
Not budget friendly but I guess not an issue for the GG awards attendees
Need to go check this shade out instore now!
Yes it is a lovely shade
Yes and Yes!
I loved and frequently used nude lippies in my 20’s and now prefer something with a terracotta or brighter red shade.
I don’t need another nude lipstick, especially at that price.
I love a nude lippie, looks so much more sophisticated
It looks like they have changes the packaging. Wasn’t it always black?
I don’t call this one nude as it has a definite lift of colour
Both too expensive for a lippy for me!
I don’t mind a nude shade, it’s either that or red.
Love the look but the price is too expensive.
These ladies all look so lovely.
I do like the idea of a refillable lippie tube.
This colour suits all of them. They all look beautiful.
yes it is a nice colour -a little lift from nude
Yes I’d treat myself to this for sure
Im not too much of a Chanel fan
Yes. I always choose nude lip colours.
Love nude lip colour! The Chanel nude looks great!!
I’m really not a big fan of nude lips.
any dupes?
Margot’s colour appears completely different! Hers looks nice, but the others look too pale.
You’d have to pay me more than $235 to wear a nude lippy,
looks so pale in the tube but so different on everyone. Colour theory for you! wow
