Three of the best hair and make-up combos

How many times have you created the perfect make-up look, only to be stumped by your hair? Or how many times have you spent an hour nailing that ‘effortless’ hairstyle and then found yourself flustered over what make-up will best complement it?

It’s annoying. And so incredibly frustrating that it can put you in a bad mood for the rest of the night.

So next time you’re gearing up for a night out, why not try one of these perfect hair and make-up combos?

Shiny locks + red lips

A bright bold lip is one of the easiest, most effective make-up looks. But if worn with the wrong hairstyle, it can look too overdone. Try pairing your luscious red lips with a simple, yet beautiful, hairstyle.
In terms of make-up, keep your eyeliner and mascara simple so that your fire engine red pout can be the star of the show. A light dusting of peach blush will do the trick to give your complexion a subtle hint of colour.
When it comes to your hair, shininess is key. If your hair is a little frizzy, go over it with your straightener and finish off with a shine spray to give your hair a healthy sheen. (Tip: if you don’t like the dead-straight look, try curling the ends of your hair like New Girl’s Hannah Simone.)

Slicked back + bronzed complexion

Wearing your hair slicked back can look quite strong if you choose to pair it with a bright lip or heavy, smoky eyes. So if you’re after something softer, then try this look as worn by Brazilian model Izabel Goulart.
Use a shimmery bronzer under your cheekbones (this will give you extra radiance), and stick to shimmery browns and neutrals on your eyes, and a mascara that will separate and lengthen your lashes. Tip: don’t be afraid to sweep a bronze or copper eyeshadow on your lower lash line like Izabel’s done. Finish off with a nude, almost skin-coloured lipstick.
Part your hair with a comb (a perfectly straight line is best for a slicked-back ‘do) and use a smoothing serum to make sure any frizzy bits and flyaways are left smooth.

Big hair + big lashes

Just one look at RiRi proves that combining a voluminous ‘do with long, full lashes works brilliantly. Definitely try this combo if you’re a fan of focusing on your eyes.
If a volumising mascara doesn’t build enough volume on your lashes, try either a fibre lash mascara or some adhesive false lashes. You can also try lining your top lash line with black eyeshadow to give your eyes that extra edge. It’s also a good idea to use a neutral colour on your lips – a soft pink, peach, or brown will work perfectly.
To add volume to your hair, use a volumising powder on your roots. This will help give your hair extra height and texture. For added thickness, curl your hair with a curling wand, gently brushing it out once your hair has cooled down. Tip: always wear your hair in a middle part? Try a deep side part for a bit of a change.
