Catherine Zeta-Jones Wore “Face Mousse” Instead of Highlighter To The BAFTAs

We’re no strangers to a mousse. Whether it be chocolate or self-tanner, these aerated formulations make for an immediately-actioned pick-me-up. And now, the light-as-air texture has added another product to its already-impressive range: face mousse. Which is what exactly? A lightweight, skin-smoothing and intensely hydrating cream. Oh and the product responsible for Catherine Zeta-Jones’ BAFTAs red carpet glow. However, not in the way you might’ve thought.

It goes without saying that the Wednesday star’s side-swept finger waves, silver smokey eye and bejewelled gown played a role in her overall radiance. And while there’s no denying that Catherine’s skin had a glow to it that goes well beyond a fabulous long-wear foundation and impeccable lighting.

What was the secret behind Catherine’s BAFTAs glam?

“I love the glowing skin, accentuating the eyes — the whole look,” she told The Zoe Report, speaking of her most recent red carpet glam.

Catherine credited her talented makeup artist, Brett Freedman as the brains behind her BAFTAs beauty. “He takes the entire look, head to toe, into consideration when deciding about my makeup and what unique application he’s going to do,” she said.

As for Brett’s secret weapon? Skin prep. “The makeup will go on better if your canvas is in tip-top shape,” he explained. This skin-first mentality is why Brett recommends regular cell turnover treatments, eye cream and loads of water in the lead up to red carpet events.
