This year marks the 30th birthday of one of our favourite all-natural beauty brands, Burt’s Bees. Yep, the brand has been offering environmentally friendly, natural health and beauty products for three whole decades!
Here are some fun facts about Burt’s Bees you may not know:
– The brand was founded when Beekeeper Burt Shavitz picked up hitchhiker Roxanne Quimby in the summer of 1984. Roxanne began making candles from Burt’s leftover beeswax and selling them at markets and in boutiques.
– In 1991, Roxanne perfected the Beeswax Lip Balm recipe she found in a 19th century journal, and it quickly became a best seller.
– One original Burt’s Bees Lip Balm is sold somewhere around the globe every 2 seconds.
– Royal jelly – the hero ingredient in the Radiance range – is made by worker bees and fed to the queen during her first days of life to ensure her growth and fertility. It’s one of the reasons why the queen bee lives 40 times longer than worker bees – and is 50 times as big!
