Celeste Barber didn’t know about these two beauty hacks

There aren’t many people in Australia (or the world, for that matter) that haven’t heard the name Celeste Barber.

She continuously makes us laugh ‘til we cry with some of the best celebrity Instagram ‘re-enactments’ and has also made us cry for real when she raised an exorbitant amount of donation money during the 2020 bushfires. 

And now, she’s lending her face and hilarity to MCoBeauty, a brand she’s used for years and was happy to get behind for numerous reasons; Australian-owned, vegan, cruelty-free and easily accessible being a few of them.

When speaking to beautyheaven, she said if people want to spend more than $50 on a makeup product, that’s great, but for her, it’s the mum in the supermarket who gets to pick up a mascara and “feel fancy” while doing a nappies run that she relates to. After all, it’s how she stumbled across the brand in the first place.

We also asked her what beauty hacks she’s picked up over the years, of which she adamantly replied, “brows!”

 “Who knew that eyebrows had so much power and gave people such social status?”

Celeste fills hers in and “sticks them where they need to be” with the MCoBeauty Brow Fill & Set ($16 at Woolworths). bh also recommends: L’Oreal Paris Brow Artist Xpert.

Another tip she never knew? Concealer after foundation people. Works a treat, especially when buffed in with something like the EcoTools Perfecting Cushion Blender.

And although we’re all pretty aware wrinkles and lines are a part of life, gravity is what took Celeste by surprise.

“I haven’t always really been known for a strong jawline but I have jowls now and that was something unexpected and I don’t like that at all.”

But rather than trying out gimmicks or products that promise to ‘firm’ her face, “I just try to act as though I don’t care about it and try to get on with my life,” she says.  

And finally, when asked to imagine her 80-year-old self, Celeste revealed, “I’m gonna be Blanche from Golden Girls, that’s what I’m holding onto. That is the goal.”

 “Shady [and] surrounded by excellent women in kaftan.”

Amen to that.
