This $4 Nourishing Lip Balm With Over 170 Reviews Has Been Labelled “Protection In A Pot”

Our quest for the perfect lip balm is never-ending. At least it can feel that way. Lip balms are essential year-round, whether your lips are chapped from a cold winter or super dry from a long summer. And quite frankly (aside from snacks), they’re the only other item that we deem as necessary to keep in our handbag, car, desk drawer and just about every pocket of every jacket we own.

So with such an important role, it’s essential that we get it right.

Which is why we’re listening to 179 of our trusted beautyheaven members who believe they’ve cracked the code to the best lip balm on the market.

With a near-perfect score of 4.6 out of 5 stars, members are calling the Blistex® Lip Conditioner ($3.99 at Chemist Warehouse) “luxuriously silky” and “deeply nourishing”.

One member even described the texture as providing the “perfect amount of moisture without being tacky.”

It is likely that everyone is familiar with this drugstore icon, which has proven to be reliable, affordable, and downright effective time and time again. While we are often tempted by flashy glosses that promise to plump, add shine and look pretty on our nightstands, this pot of lip-soothing gold always keeps us coming back.

Enriched with the hydration heavy-hitters such as aloe vera, cocoa butter, vitamin E, grapeseed and olive oils, dry lips will be a thing of the past. You’re even able to shield your skin from harmful UV rays with the addition of SPF 30 protection.

Here’s what some of our members had to say…

“The balm is easy to apply with my fingers and glides on smoothly. There is a slippery feel to the balm but it is not greasy and it stays in place quite well. I’ve worn it on its own and also under lipstick to keep my lips smooth and soft. I also apply the balm before going to bed to keep my lips hydrated throughout the night.” – Onlyoni, read more reviews here…

“The super moisturising balm is really easy to apply from the metal screw top pot with finger or lip brush for hygiene and has a pleasant vanilla/caramel like taste and flavour which I really like. Best of all is the SPF as it is so important to guard against skin cancer and the lips are especially vulnerable.” – Frenchy1, read more reviews here…

“Being on Roacutane i needed a good lip balm whilst still looking for more products to condition and soften my lips. After reading so many labels I came across this one. The fact that it was conditioning was very intriguing. The container isn’t anything fancy, nor was the idea of sticking my fingers into a tub. However after the first use I can say I really loved this product!” – Gayle781, read more reviews here…

“The Blistex lip conditioner was in a pot and is one of the best lip conditioners I have tried it has a nice mild scent and doesn’t leave a funny taste on my lips. This works perfectly and repairs the lips very quickly. I like to put it on before bed to wake up with ready to go lips or a couple of hours before applying lipstick.” – Saffy86, read more reviews here…

  1. Unless people are using disposable lip applicators or squeezing a squeezable balm onto a finger first I think it would be just as unhygienic using a tube directly on the lips as it would be with fingers.

  2. What’s better than using Blistex alone is employing Derm Shereene Idriss’ Lip Basting Method.

Lip Basting involves applying a gentle AHA to your lips and leaving it to sink in for a few seconds then topping it with a moisturiser such as Weleda Skin Food and letting that absorb for a minute or so; shortly after, apply something like Blistex or Aquaphor and your lips will be left left lush for a lot longer than if you’d applied lip balm alone.

  3. Yes definitely a Fiver! I’ve used this one right through my roaccutane years and I couldn’t have lived without it for my driest of ever lips! Still, decades on I am never without a pot of this in one of my bags
