When we were teenagers we made a wealth of questionable decisions in the name of beauty.
We overplucked our eyebrows, doused ourselves in body spray, and always wore a foundation three shades too dark.
But as it turns out, celebrities aren’t immune from relatable beauty blunders either.
After celebrity makeup artist, Carolina Gonzalez, faked a fuller pout on Blake Lively for the CFDA Awards last week using a liquid eye shadow, the actress shared a painful high school-era beauty hack with her Instagram followers.
Carolina used one of the neutral, matte shades of Giorgio Armani’s Eye Tint ($60 from David Jones) to create a subtle contour just outside the perimeter of Blake’s natural lip line to create a plump-looking pout. But according to Blake, she and her high school friends used far more creative methods to make their lips look plumper.
“When Carolina Gonzalez does the Gen Z eyeshadow lip trick to make your lips look huge, but then you wash off your makeup and accept that you’re a millennial girl who, in high school, used to wear lip gloss with alarming amounts of chilli peppers inside for a plump because we were that committed to bad ideas,” Blake shared via Instagram.
“Turns out eyeshadow is way less painful than Carolina reapers,” she joked. “Thank you Carolina Gonzalez for not turning my mouth into an episode of Hot Ones.”

What was the most questionable beauty habit you had in high school?
Not for me thanks
Mine was using those cakey full coverage foundations when I didn’t need to!
Yuk I remember those !
yes the stick ones!
I was never that brave.
This would be a disaster if I tried it!
Black eye pencil used as lip contour.
Probably being forced to let my mother cut my hair rather than go to an actual hairdresser. But that wasn’t really MY bad idea.
so much hair laquer!!
Overplucking.
I can’t remember it was so long ago.
So she’s shading the latest lip glosses released by the likes of Fenty and Maybelline that contains traces of chilli or whatever equivalent (i.e., “plumping glosses).
Wow, thankfully trout pouts weren’t a thing when I was in high school.
Thankfully not when I was at school either
Interesting, i never did that
She is funny!
Not for me.
