For those who love a red carpet moment, you’ll be well aware that The Academy Awards (fondly known as the Oscars) are usually held in February each year.
But although originally scheduled for the 28th February 2021, this year’s event has been postponed due to COVID-19 until the 25th of April.
So to fill the glitz and glamour hole that’s been left in its traditional month of February, we thought we’d throw it back to all the past Oscars red carpets and the iconic beauty looks it’s served us over the years.

1955: Grace Kelly
Winning Best Actress for her role in The Country Girl, Grace Kelly looked divine with her hair pulled into an updo (adorned with flowers no less) and a muted red lip.
1969: Barbara Streisand

Platinum blonde hair, spray tan and barely-there brows. It must be the early ‘00s.
2009: Jennifer Aniston
We can’t name a time Jen didn’t nail the red carpet, but this year she was absolutely radiant.

It was the headband that broke the Internet (seriously, it sold out everywhere), and the makeup look that stole our hearts.

There is so much to love about this look we don’t even know where to start. The glossy wave, the reddish-coral lip, the bronze-terracotta eye. We bow down to you Emma Stone (or at least, to your makeup artist).
2018: Jennifer Lawrence
Jennifer’s fearlessly winged out eyeshadow look was the masterpiece of makeup artist Hung Vanngo. It worked like magic paired with a terracotta lip.
2018: Margot Robbie
Another actress with many stand-out red carpet moments, but it’s the short blunt bob and ethereal eye makeup for us. Not to mention, that skin.

2020: Janelle Monae
Who needs hair accessories when you have a built-in bedazzled hood as part of your gown? The pop of colour on Janelle’s pout only sealed the deal.

Grace Kelly she looked so classy that royalty married her. (Hmm why does that sound familiar?) I love Barbra Streisand if not for her look for her music. But I still haven’t seen all her movies! It wasn’t Elizabeth Taylor’s eyeshadow that caught my eye. I’m always a fan of Julia Roberts and Jennifer Aniston.

There's some great looks here (I did have to cringe at Charlize's eyebrows circa the early 00's though – not her fault, that was the fashion back then). Particularly love Emma & Michelle's looks though, as well as Janelle's (that woman pulls off a fashion statement like no other).
