If one things for sure, it’s that red carpets have been on fire recently. With the annual Glamour Women of the Year Awards and the Council of Fashion Designers of America evening happening over consecutive nights.
We’ve been treated to a bevy of beauties who are meticulously and marvelously dressed up to the nines, sporting some seriously hot hair and make-up looks – as well as a few drool-worthy ensembles for us to gawk at (and take heaps of inspiration from).
And though there can only be one winner for each award, we’ve split our ‘Best in Beauty’ award six ways – because we simply can’t choose between six utterly enticing make-up looks – and we doubt that you’ll be able to choose a winner either.
Hey, who says we have to choose anyway? Simply sit back and enjoy the (gorgeous) show…
ADRIANA LIMA
Well, the Brazilian supermodel has certainly done it again. Her beautifully bronzed complexion features a hint of warm blush near her cheekbones and I think you’ll agree that she looks all the better for it. My favourite part is her clear lack of liner. Instead, Adriana has chosen to brighten her eyes with some clever use of illuminator and lightly coloured eye shadow. To get the look, apply a bronzing primer to a clean (and concealed) complexion and then make sure you use a good liquid illuminator to highlight areas such as your forehead, bridge of your nose, cheekbones and inner corners of your eyes. To create this look you’ll need Australis Bronzing Face Primer and Benefit Girl Meets Pearl.
CARA DELIVINGNE
Uh, could we love her any more? Doubtful – but we can try. Cara chose to team her famous bolder than bold brows with a red lipstick of equal stature. She then contoured her cheekbones with a hint of coral blush before finishing off her look with lashings of black mascara. That’s it – simple, yet stunning. To recreate this look you’ll need Burberry Beauty Lip Cover Soft Satin Lipstick in Union Red and Ardell Brow Defining Powder in Mink Brown.
CANDICE SWANEPOEL
Natural beauty was the name of the game for Candice at the CFDA Fashion Awards. A natural hue brushed through her brows gave them definition without looking false and her subtle make-up kept the focus on her ethereal gown. We loved the soft pink hue on her lips that looks as though it’s a little bit pink and a little bit nude. We also love that her complexion features just a hint of blush and her long, jet black lashes do most of the talking all on their own. To create this look for yourself you’ll need Nude by Nature Lipstick in Sassy and ModelCo FIBRE LASH mascara.
SAMANTHA BARKS
The British beauty had all eyes on her as she swanned down the red carpet in a gloriously bright fuchsia pink frock. Her make-up was cause for serious excitement, too. Sam chose to keep her complexion quite matte, with a hint of ‘barely there’ pink blush over the apples of her cheeks paired with some skin brightening illuminator. Better still, she chose a lolly-pink lipstick and a swipe of metallic aqua eyeliner over her top lash line. Teamed with a subtle smoky eye, the coloured liner quite simply ‘popped’ from her peepers. We’re thrilled. To create this look yourself you’ll need MeMeMe Blush Me Blush Box in Pink and Rimmel Exaggerate Full Colour Eye Definer in Aqua Sparkle.
NICOLE RICHIE
Though she was looking a little on the thin side, Nicole Richie managed to pull out a stellar red carpet make-up look yet again. Sporting her signature eyeliner flick, her stare was framed perfectly. She kept her complexion fresh and matte and free of any colour – she saved that for her killer pout. Sporting one of the deepest blood red pouts I’ve ever clapped eyes on, Nicole chose to go with a matte finish lipstick – and we think she scored an A+. To recreate this look you’ll need Almay Liquid Eyeliner Pen in Black and Revlon Matte Lipstick in Really Red.
RITA ORA
Rita managed to bag the Best Solo Artist Gong at the Glamour Awards – but we’re pleased to report that she also cleaned up in the beauty stakes. Sporting a grey/silver smoky eye, dark, strong brows and hints of candy pink on her cheeks and lips, Rita certainly had all beauty bases covered. We’re particularly enamored with her twist on the classic smoky eye – and how it makes her dark eyes simply pop. To recreate this look you’ll need Innoxa Eye Shadow Compacts in Gorgeous Grey and Bobbi Brown High Shimmer Lip Gloss in Bellini.
