It’s the age-old beauty dilemma: clear skin or a tan (fake tan, that is). Unless you’re one of the blessed few, it’s widely known that we can rarely have both. For most of us, one mere whiff of face tan and the pores start clogging and breakouts start brewing. This is why our Thursday tan night is often closely followed by a self-care Sunday (AKA damage control) where we lather on the heavy-duty chemical exfoliators and acne-blasting masks.
Unless, of course, you’re keeping the self-tan mousse for the neck down and utilising the skin-loving benefits of a face tanning mist.
If you’re yet to catch on to the easy-to-use skin and tan hybrid, allow us to introduce you to the five best tan mists in the business.
The best facial tan mists
Bondi Sands Pure Tanning Mist
Sensitive skin and acne-prone skin types have long believed fake tan can only be applied from the neck down in order to avoid triggering irritation. However, this colourless, fragrance free mist offers a refreshing hit of hydration as it coats the complexion in a light golden glow.

Have you tried any of these face tanning mists? If not, which one would you like to try?
I haven’t tried any of these. I’ve heard great things about the Isle Of Paradise Self Tanning Drops but I didn’t know they made a mist.
Not a huge fan of tanning.
This is the first time I’ve heard of tanning mist. Sounds like a great idea.
Not into darkening the skin. Used to spend lots time outdoors, tan naturally. Now prefer no taning
This sounds tricky to me.
I had heard of it before but never tried them
I would never use these.
Thanks but FT is a pass for me
This is not something I would be interested in but definitely think there is a market for it. I used to do double coats of spray tan on clients so the face would match the body long but it is usually the first place to lose the tan.
I really like Bondi Sands
so apply like a toner?
Fake tanning is not for me
I think I might try the Bondi Sands Pure Tanning Mist to give a boost to my tan.
I’ve never been a person who wanted to tan, for real or artificially.
I don’t tan my skin.
Those are way behind me now, lol
Interesting. I use AHA’s so I’m assuming that this would negate the effects
This is something cool, I would definitely love to try these some day
yes they look light don’t they
my face just seems to get colour naturally even though I wear SPF all the time.
Interesting. I wonder how long results last. Fake tan is expensive.
I haven’t tried any of these products. Not a fan of the tan.
I wouldn’t use this product; not into fake tans
i have a wotnot one but haven’t used it yet
I can see how easily this would go wrong for me.
I don’t use tanning products, especially on my face.
Not a product I’ve tried.
I don’t use them.
I tan so easily so I don’t need this.
I don’t like the look of fake tan.
