These days, you’d be hard-pressed to find a celebrity who hasn’t launched (or at least attempted to launch) a beauty brand. From celebrity skin care to makeup and even wellness lines, it seems every A-lister has dabbled in the beautysphere.

And it makes sense, really. Celebrities spend countless hours prepping their skin and getting their faces painted for red carpet events, movies, concerts, talkshow appearances — the list goes on.

But let’s be honest here, any brand that is tied to your favourite pop culture figure is going to have a lot of hype around it. Even those that aren’t actually that mind-blowing (we won’t name them here…).

So we’ve scoured the shelves of dozens of drugstores and Sephoras to find the best of the best celebrity beauty brands to save you time and money sorting out the trash from the treasure.

Whether you’re on the hunt for a concealer that won’t crease or a multi-use product that covers cheeks, lips and eyes, Drew Barrymore’s Flower Beauty won’t let you down. The brand offers true bang for your buck, and there’s a reason why the formulas have gone viral. The favourites, including the Light Illusion Liquid Foundation, do sell out fast so head into your local Chemist Warehouse store stat.

Fenty Beauty & Fenty Skin

Rihanna has gone from selling out stadiums to selling out at Sephora. With a 50-shade range of foundation, her colour cosmetics line, Fenty Beauty, has set the tone for any new brand launches and major brands have begun to follow suit by increasing their shade ranges for darker skin tones. The brand became an instant favourite and there’s not a single product that hasn’t gone viral on TikTok — proof that RiRi is still dropping absolute bangers. Same goes for Fenty Beauty’s sister skin care line, Fenty Skin. Together, the duo has got your entire beauty routine covered, from skin prep to perfecting your pout.

Pattern Beauty

Designed specifically for curly, coily and textured hair types, Tracee Ellis Ross’s haircare line is a serious game changer for the POC beauty community. Pattern Beauty is all about embracing and nourishing your natural locks, with a focus on holistic ingredients, scalp care and innovative tools that cater to the curly and coily hair community. Their latest release? The Pattern Blow Dryer which is the first of its kind for curly hair.

There isn’t a Kora Organics product we’ve met and haven’t loved (did we mention we’re obsessed with the Turmeric Brightening & Exfoliating Mask?). Miranda Kerr’s organic skin care range is the perfect place to start when curating your beauty and wellness rituals. Each product is packed with high-performing ingredients to hydrate and plump your complexion and deliver a glow like never before.

Rare Beauty

Rare Beauty was founded on the premise that our natural beauty and mental health are irrevocably interlinked. And through the brand, Selena Gomez is on a mission to break down unrealistic standards of perfection. With collections and shades such as ‘Positive Light’, ‘Kind Words’ and ‘Courage’, every Rare Beauty product is designed to empower you from the moment you pick it up. The brand also launched the Rare Impact Fund with an aim to raise US$100 million in 10 years to help fund mental health access and resources. Proof that makeup can actually change lives…

What started as a natural skin care line has now expanded into a beauty empire. Founded by Alicia Keys, Keys Soulcare is all about harnessing ancient beauty practices to nourish your body, mind and spirit. Each formula is developed by a dermatologist so rest assured the brand is sensitive skin-approved. From candles to face creams and the skin care-infused ‘Make You’ cosmetics, your soul-nourishing ritual awaits.

At one time or another, we all wanted hair like Jennifer Aniston’s (read: the Rachel haircut). And now that dream is within reach thanks to Jen’s haircare line LolaVie. The brand maintains a fuss-free, minimalist approach to haircare, offering just five products. The best part? All LolaVie products are formulated without water and instead use bamboo essence, so they’re as good for the planet as they are for your hair.

Haus Labs

When Lady Gaga launched her makeup brand Haus Labs in 2019, we welcomed the bold, ultra-pigmented colourways with open arms. And after the Haus Labs rebrand and expansion into complexion last year, we are even more obsessed with the brand. Each formula features skin-loving ingredients including arnica and hyaluronic acid to keep your skin healthy and your complexion flawless. And if you haven’t tried the Born This Way Foundation yet, you need to get your hands on it — a serious game-changer for every skin type.

Victoria Beckham Beauty

Victoria Beckham’s eponymous beauty collection is nothing short of showstopping. From everyday looks to red carpet glam, Posh has nailed the luxury beauty brief with a curated collection that offers a minimalist approach. The Victoria Beckham Beauty price point is a little higher but trust us when we say the quality is too. As Victoria told Vogue, “I’m only interested in creating what I want myself and it’s got to be the best.” The proof is in the pudding, folks!

Have you tried any of these brands? Did your favourite celebrity beauty line make the cut?

  1. Kora was the first skincare brand I use when I began taking a more serious interest in skincare. I didn’t love all the products but go back to this brand over the years as they have released some great stuff in the last few years alone (i.e. the tumeric scrub). Flower Beauty is a great affordable brand. Some of the products are pretty good for value. The brushes and sponge are also great. Rare Beauty is AMAZING. I am not a fan of Fenty Skin although I love the body butter. Fenty Beauty has some great products. Nothing beats the lip glosses but there are cheaper dupes. The highlighters and blushes are also really lovely. The rest of the other brands are more celebrity brands in my mind. I never think about them differently like I do with Kora, Flower Beauty, Rare Beauty and Fenty.

  2. I tried a few KORA Organics products a long time ago and I thought that they were lovely. I recently bought a Flower Beauty blush but I have not had a chance to try it yet (reviews for the blushes always seem to be positive).
