As we move into our natural beauty era we’re steering away from our once favourite heavy liners and opting for a glowier, lighter all round more natural look. But that doesn’t mean binning your favourite liquid liner and cat-eye flick for good.
We know applying liquid liner is an absolute beast to master (and we’ve all tried), especially when it comes to mature eyes. But once you get it –- and boy does it take time –- you feel ready to take on just about anything.
So instead, we’re opting for brown liquid eyeliners (think chocolate, espresso and teddy brown hues) to blend into our lash line, and still give our eyes that pop we’re looking for.
So once you’ve mastered the best liner style for your eyes, browse through our carefully curated selection of the best brown liquid liners.

Do you use brown liquid eyeliner? Which of these products would you most like to try?!
No, but I might get one. it looks more natural than black ones.
Black can be a bit too striking
I’d like to try any of these because I’ve never tried any liquid eyeliner.
I haven’t either. Am a bit worried I would not be steady enough ?
Does not suit me. Have tried
If I had. Steady hand I would use.
I think brown is less harsh than black, but have never tried a liquid eyeliner
I much prefer pencil eye liners as I’m not as likely to get in a mess with pencil! Applaud those who can manage liquid well.
I’d love to try the NYX Professional liquid liner.
Well if you wanted to try it out this Essence 24ever Ink Liner is so cheap it is worth a go??
The KVD one looks good!
I prefer the tubes with a brush over the pen type, so I might check out that nyx one.
I’ve actually used brown liner before!
*Never
I want to try them all!
I prefer brown liner to black. It looks more natural.
I have a nice brown pencil, the liquid liner looks quick to apply
It depends on the shade, some browns are too light and not effective. I like grey eyeliners which goes well with blue eyes.
Oh wow this article is great! I love wearing browns and it’s great to have a comprehensive list of them! Love her cat dress too btw!
I don’t wear eyeliner these days, but I’ve worn brown in the past because it was so much softer looking than black.
I’ve tried brown pencil liners but not liquid ones.
I probably need to get a new one
I don’t use eye liner
Liquid eyeliner is way beyond my skillset
I don’t wear any eyeliner.
I like a brown eyeliner for day – it’s softer than black.
I usually use black eyeliner, occasionally a gold one. I used my brown eyeliner the other day (3INA) but I prefer black.
Ive never tried brown liquid eyeliner, but id really like to try it, very curious
I don’t bother with any type of eyeliner at all (the joys of hooded eyelids), even though I own several (liquid metallic + pencil liners). Wouldn’t go near black as it’s too stark against my fair skin, but brown works well enough for me.
I prefer pencil eye liners.
I might try it, I’ve felt before and works fine
Never tried brown liner, considering a pencil before liquid liner.
