I know as a teenager it’s hard to take advice from somebody older than you. But I’m still hip, I’m still cool, I can get down with ya’ll. Ok, maybe not. How about I just promise that I’ll never say ‘ya’ll’ again if you just keep reading and maybe consider the wisdom I’m about to bestow on you.
We all know that being a teenager is some of the best and worst years of your life. It can be pretty awkward as you navigate your way into adulthood, but thankfully by the end of it there’s usually only some horrible photos and memories to laugh about.
But for Kendall and Kylie Jenner, they’ve had to go through their awkward teenage years in front of an entire camera crew, not to mention the millions of people who watch the Kardashian reality TV show. Although their experience has probably been made easier with professional hair and make-up artists, there are still some valuable beauty lessons we can learn from the two teens.
They stick to their natural hue
One of the first things you notice about the Jenner sisters is their glorious long locks. They both tend to stick to their signature brunette colour, which compliments their skin tone and brows perfectly. When you’re a teenager it can be tempting to dye your hair the complete opposite to what it is. For me, it was a blue-black colour that made me look as pale as a ghost. You have the rest of your life to be dying your hair, so try to stick with your natural colour as long as possible (or if your really hate it, try going just one or two shades lighter or darker). If you’re determined on a dramatic change, try something a little less permanent like Vixen Hair Colour Chalks.
They keep it natural most of the time
Both sisters favour a natural make-up look with a pop of colour every now and then. Acne aside, teenage skin is generally youthful and naturally dewy, so there’s no need to slather on the concealer and foundation. Instead try a BB cream like CHI CHI Super BB cream. It will help cover blemishes and imperfections without looking overdone. Add a touch of mascara and perhaps a pinch of blush and you’re every day make-up look is simple, yet stunning.
For the days when you need an extra dose of confidence or just want to try something new, add a pop of colour to your lips with something likeREVLON Just Bitten Kissable Lip Stain. A stain will give you colour for hours without the heaviness of a lipstick.
They shave the right way
The easiest and cheapest method that teenagers often opt for when it comes to hair removal is shaving. The first time I shaved I did it with water and nothing else. I was too embarrassed to ask my Mum how to do it properly. It’s important to know how to shave the right way so you don’t damage and irritate your skin. Kendall and Kylie told Teen Fashion “We love wearing skirts and dresses, so we always make sure our legs look their best and shaving is a big part of that. We love the Venus Embrace razor and the Satin Care Shave Gel, which smells awesome and keeps our legs smooth. And we always use a body lotion after to make sure we’re moisturised.”
