Yesterday was my first actual working day at beautyheaven (and what a day it was) so I thought I’d better introduce myself to you – the lovely people who I’ll be dedicating a large part of my day to from now on.
My name is Debbie, and I’m the very excited (if not slightly overwhelmed) new Editor here at beautyheaven. I’ve recently returned to Australia from London where I spent a fantastic few years travelling, studying, eating, shopping and trying out as many different beauty products on the international market as I could get my hands on. Oh, and of course, I also worked about a million odd jobs throughout to finance my vices.
But before attempting to become a professional Lady of Leisure (turns out it’s not as easy as it seems if you’re not a trust-fund child. Thanks mum and dad) I spent about five years getting to know the ins-and-outs (and everything in between) of the beauty industry through various roles on women’s magazines.
My journey began when I was plucked from obscurity – ok, well maybe just from my position as intern in its features department – to be the Beauty Assistant at marie claire. Shortly after, I became its Deputy Beauty Editor and I worked in that position for three years before moving on to try my hand on a weekly publication as Beauty Editor for FAMOUS magazine.
My little sojourn away from the industry proved that absence does in fact make the heart grow fonder. That and it’s not always that convenient to wait for months for visitors from home to bring you your fave Aussie products (think Lucas’ Papaw Ointment, Jurlique Rose Hand Cream, Bloom Daily Shield Lip Balm SPF 30+, Darrell Lea Liquorice, Twisties…you get my drift). So anyway, I’m back and ready to provide you with your daily beauty fix. Look forward to hearing from you!
