Beauty Insider: June 2022

Welcome to Beauty Insider, where each month we bring you all of the latest beauty news, the best new product launches and the beauty brands we think should be on your radar. It’s a must-read for any beauty lover who wants to be in the know.

Big news in beauty

  • Luxury fragrance line, Byredo, has officially been acquired by the Spanish fashion and fragrance house, Puig. This announcement comes after much speculation over the brand being acquired by cosmetic giant L’Oréal. While no details of the deal have been revealed, Byredo was most recently valued at around €1bn (approx 1.5 billion AUD).
  • Australia’s leading spa, endota, has officially made their move to New Zealand following the acquisition of Forme Spa group. The new locations include Albany, Takapuna, Mt Eden, Parnell, Ponsonby, Wellington, Christchurch, Queenstown and Hamilton. This brings the total number of endota locations to 120, 11 of which are overseas.
  • Kim Kardashian has announced the launch of her own skin care brand, SKKN by Kim, set for a global release on the 21st of June, 2022.  Described as a “new era of skin care,” each product within the nine-step routine will sit between $60 – $132 AUD. We can’t wait to try it.
  • muk Haircare has a brand new look! After 3 years in the making, you’ll start to see the new packaging in store. Plus, a completely redesigned website.
  • To celebrate World Ocean Day, Burt’s Bees and Repurpose Global are partnering up to help tackle plastic waste pollution in the marine ecosystem. Both companies will launch an Ocean Plastic Prevention Initiative. The three-year collaboration will fund recycling infrastructure in Accra, Ghana, and the Malappuram district of Kerala, India. The initiative will eliminate almost seven kilograms of waste bound for the ocean and aims to enhance the working conditions of local waste workers.
  • A statement issued by Revlon Australia and New Zealand confirmed that it’s ‘business as usual’ and the company remains unaffected by the global news of Revlon filing for bankruptcy.

Glasshouse Fragrances A Tahaa Affair Devotion Soy Candle

In honour of its 15th anniversary, the iconic Tahitian-inspired Glasshouse candle has unveiled a limited-edition (and stunning) pink glass jar to mark the occasion. It’s not dissimilar to the way we once celebrated our own 15th birthday. Although the packaging might’ve received a glow-up, the scent itself remains the same with notes of butterscotch, caramel, plus sheer musk and vanilla orchid. Delicious.

Hask Blonde Care Purple Toning Shampoo

Goodbye brass. While we don’t usually advocate the ‘cancelling’ of anything, we make an exception when discussing the brassy tones in our hair. Hask’s violet shampoo has been enriched with vitamin C and elderberry oil to neutralise yellow and orange tones, leaving locks with a creamier, cooler shade of blonde.

  1. Glasshouse always amazes me with their beautiful products. I can only have so many candles though.

As to Kim K…..I really get tired of even seeing pictures of her these days.

    • I never used to use candles in my house but the other evening I went to my friends house and she had candles burning and the fragance was just lovely. Will be trying candles soon.

  2. Australia’s leading spa, endota coming to NZ is exciting and Hawaiian tropic sunscreen and moisture sounds good and also Rodan + Fields Instant Targeting Firming Gel

  3. SKKN might delay their global launched. Should’ve done more TM work on their brand name. Same with Rhode. Shame on these rich “celebrities” – it’s not hard for them to come up with an original brand.

    • Ethelinde, isn’t Rhode a special case as Hailey’s TM applies to beauty and skincare while the original company’s TM applies to clothing and apparel? I’m curious and you are the expert on this subject!

  4. Lovely to read the Burt’s Bees collaboration for World Ocean Day. I would think they’d remove more than seven kgs of waste though. I would like to give the Hawaiian Tropic Silk Hydration Lotion a try soon.
