Matte:
Luxurious matte formulas are my weakness and even though they can be drying on my sensitive lips, I just can’t resist them. Rich berries and deep plums complement matte formulas but fun girly pinks shouldn’t be avoided either. To achieve the matte look, dab your lips with one ply of tissue and dust a little translucent powder over your lips. Glossy:
While I’m instantly drawn to gorgeous matte reds and creamy pinks, I do love to switch it up every once in a while with just a slick of gloss. To keep your gloss looking modern and classy rather than 80s and sloppy, only apply the gloss to the centre of your lips or opt for glossy all-in-one lip lacquers that give a rich, juicy shine such as Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Pur Couture Glossy Stainor two-step lipsticks like L’Oréal Paris Infallible 2 Step Longwear Lipstick.
Sheer:
As fantastic as a bright lipstick can be, it isn’t appropriate for all occasions. That doesn’t mean you have to ditch your favourite show-stopping lippie, Instead pat the colour on your lips or use a subtle tinted lip balm like Revlon ColorBust Lip Butter.
Ombre:
Ombre lips are a great way to add a little more drama to your look. Either go all out with two completely different colours (my favourite combo is pink and orange) or keep it a little more subtle with a fiery cherry red on your top lip and a deep burgundy on the bottom. Play around with your lipstick stash until you find a combination that you love or take the guesswork out of the task and use a lipstick duo such as Covergirl Blast Flipsticks.
3D:
If you want to make your lips look fuller, try something new, or be bold, then the 3D lip is for you. Either pat a little shimmery shadow (white, gold and silver pack the most punch) or use a lighter shade of lipstick onto the centre of your lips.
