3 celebrity beauty mistakes you might be making

This may sound a little harsh, but when celebrities get it wrong in the make-up stakes, I can’t help but feel a pang of disappointment – especially if it’s for a red carpet event where they’ve no doubt had a make-up artist on hand to help them get their look just right.

I mean, we’re supposed to be taking styles cues and inspiration from these people. And even with a team of stylists at hand, they still can’t manage to avoid some of the most obvious rookie beauty errors out there.

Don’t get me wrong. It’s not all bad, sometimes they hit the nail on the head like a hammer, and sometimes they don’t. The important thing is that we learn from their mistakes to ensure we don’t all follow suit…

CANDICE, YOU NEED TO EASE UP ON THE EYELINER…

It’s slightly worrying that Candice Swanepoel (one of the most dashing Victoria’s Secret angels around) is beginning to resemble Taylor Momsen, just a little (I’m hoping it’s a phase). The problem with Candice’s look is that she’s gone much too heavy on the eyeliner. While some brunettes may be able to get away with such a dark and heavy eye-look, platinum blonde girls just come off looking like they’re recovering from a big night out. Candice’s look could be improved by switching to a brown eyeliner, or opting for a slick of liner over her top lash line, instead of the top and bottom lash line, teamed with a dark smoky shadow to match. This way, she could also trade in her matte nude lip colour for a glossy pink hue that won’t make her looked as ‘grungy’.

HAYDEN, YOU NEED TO MATCH YOUR FACE TO YOUR BODY…

If you’re a fan of fake tan, then you’ve no doubt been guilty of this at one time or another. Hayden has obviously opted to go for a faux glow for her big red carpet event – only problem is she’s forgotten to tan her face! Now, while I love her lips, her lashes and those brows, I can’t help but take points off for her mismatched face and body colour. Hayden’s look could be improved ten fold if she’d just gotten her hands on a fake tan for her face and adopted the same bronze glow she has on her body, too.

MARISA, YOU NEED TO ADD SOME COLOUR TO YOUR LOOK…

While the cobalt blue frock is certainly a winner on the Victoria’s Secret model, Marisa Miller has certainly made an error or two in the beauty and hair stakes with this look.
Her skin is radiant with a dewy finish, her brows are well manicured, but her lips are blending in with her complexion and it makes her look ‘washed out’ as a result. What she needs is a pop of colour on those kissers. It doesn’t need to be a bright hue, but the foundation-on-lip look just isn’t cutting the mustard in my book. Likewise, although I do love a deep side-part, I’m not as big of a fan when it reveals a whole heap of dark regrowth. It really pays to keep up with your hair colouring, or opt for a root colouring powder that you can brush on to disguise even really dark regrowth while you’re in-between appointments.
