Faux freckles burst onto the beauty scene last year and we’ve been not-so-secretly pushing them since – as well as encouraging those lucky enough to have natural specks to flaunt them as much as possible.
But never in our wildest dreams did we think we’d see a freckle trend this fun and this cute!

Inspired by beauty vlogger Batalash Beauty, Instagrammers, bloggers and beauty gurus the world over have been flaunting freckles all colours of the rainbow, some with glitter and sparkles too:
Even Suki Waterhouse showed off her own interpretation as she walked the red carpet at the Pride and Prejudice and Zombies movie premiere, with gold flecks of glitter underneath her eyes.

The best thing about this trend is the freckles are actually pretty easy to create and every beauty lover is likely to already own everything they need to give it a go. So what are you waiting for?
Here’s our simple step-by-step for how to create colourful, glitter freckles.
What you’ll need:
1 x concealer brush
1 x fine tip brush or cotton bud with a pointed tip
2 or more liquid lipsticks or eyeshadows in your favourite shades
Step 1
Dispense a small amount of each colour you’ll be using onto a palette or the back of your hand.
bh’s Sam used:
Dark pink – Estée Lauder Pure Color Envy Sculpting Lacquer in Mulberry Tease
Pearlescent pink – Revlon PhotoReady Eye Art™ Lid + Line + Lash in Fuschia Flash
Gold – Revlon PhotoReady Eye Art™ Lid + Line + Lash in Desert Dazzle
Step 2
Dip your concealer brush into your first shade and use a dotting motion to create a few big freckles, leaving plenty of space for the smaller freckles to come.
Step 3
Using your fine liner brush or a pointed cotton bud, dip the tip into your next shade and use the same dotting motion to create smaller freckles, in between and all around your big ones.
bh tip: You can spread them out over your cheeks, on your nose, near your eyes – wherever you wish to be freckly! If you have natural freckles, you can use them as a guide too. It doesn’t matter if they’re all different sizes or symmetrical – freckles aren’t supposed to be perfect.
Step 4
Use the same technique as Step 3 for your third and final shade, until you’ve got a nice spread of rainbow freckles.
Sam side note: I felt like a fairy princess using pink and glitter shades, but you can experiment with any colours you like. If you do please post your look in this forum thread – I want to see all of your freckle creations!
