Why more women hate their mirrors

Women have always suffered from a complex relationship with mirrors, but new research by Dove has shown they may be seriously affecting our self-esteem.

They survey found that a whopping one in three women choose a negative emotional word when describing their reflection. Interestingly, we still feel compelled to look in the mirror over six times a day, totaling an average of 50 minutes during a 24-hour period.

In addition to scrutinising their appearance at home, those surveyed also checked their reflection in other places such as car mirrors (50 per cent), shop windows (48 per cent) and elevators (44 per cent).

At beautyheaven, we want women to smile when they look in the mirror. Thankfully, so does Dove! Check it their inspiring short film here.
