Fergie’s Message To Women After Her Shock Diagnosis

The Duchess of York, Sarah Ferguson, has been diagnosed with breast cancer after a routine screening. The shock revelation has rocked the Royal Family, the world and Fergie herself, who was entirely symptom-free before receiving her diagnosis.

However, a spokesperson for the 63-year-old has since revealed Fergie is “now recuperating with her family”.

During her podcast Tea Talks With The Duchess And Sarah, Fergie told her co-host Jane Thomson, “I’m going in for a mastectomy, a single mastectomy. It’s very important I speak about it.”

“I don’t mind if no one wants to hear from me. I’m telling people. I want every single person listening to go get checked,” she urged. Fergie’s diagnosis came after a routine screening, one she almost didn’t attend until her sister Jane convinced her to go.

In fact, Fergie repeated this exact sentiment recently to radio duo Kyle and Jackie O: “I think it’s important to speak about more women going for [cancer] screenings. I’m very strong, I feel okay, but maybe my body needs to keep up with my mind.”

What is Fergie’s current health status?

After six days in hospital post-surgery, Fergie has been discharged and is said to be recovering alongside her ex-husband Prince Andrew and two daughters Beatrice and Eugenie.

Though Fergie is yet to personally speak out since her mastectomy, The Sun have reported that her surgery was a success.

Here’s to Fergie making a complete recovery.

Do you undergo regular breast checks? If not, are you thinking about going?

  1. Sad to hear that Sarah has had to undergo a mastectomy, it’s dreadful. I have had three friends go through breast cancer and all are considered 5 year survivors.

I have my screen every 2 years and so grateful that it’s available to me free.

  2. I was on holiday in Greece when I got an email advising me that I was due for a breast screening, I made the appointment soon after I got back from holiday. I think the emails they send out are fantastic.
