Obesity rates in Australia have soared by more than 80 per cent in the past 33 years, a survey has found.
The analysis, led by University of Washington researchers, examined the rates of excessive weight in adults and children in almost 200 countries between 1980 and 2013.
Australia and New Zealand had the biggest increases of all countries over the last three decades. The findings, which reveal almost one in three of us are obese, mean we’ve jumped almost 40 places to 25th in obesity ranking, not far behind the US.
