As a royal and one of the most famous women on the planet, you’d assume Kate Middleton’s workout routine would involve a personal trainer.
But as it turns out, the Duchess of Cambridge prefers to sweat solo. At least, according to an insider source via the Daily Mail.
As per royal protocol (and just like the beauty rules they follow), Kate herself has never given intimate details about her exact diet and exercise routine. But it’s clear from her trim figure that her fitness would be something she maintains daily.
So what does she do if there’s no personal trainer to guide her? Well, that’s where things get interesting…
Kate Middleton’s favourite workouts
Mum duties
Though it mightn’t be an event at the Olympics, Kate considers looking after her three kids a workout in itself.
While hosting the England Wheelchair Rugby League, Kate was asked for specifics on her gym routine by one of the competing athletes.
“It’s running around after the children. Whenever I can squeeze in exercise I do, even jumping on the trampoline with my children before school,” said the Princess, as reported in The Daily Mirror.
Planking
Yep, this torturous toning exercise is reportedly one of Kate’s favourite workout moves.
“It tightens her muscles,” says the source. “There are three elements, the basic plank, the side plank, and the prone skydive, all of which are positions Kate can hold for 45 seconds or longer and repeat at least 10 times each.”
Never heard of a skydive plank? Neither had we, but you can check out an instructional video here.
Running
At school, Kate was a cross-country runner. And it’s a habit she seems to have kept ever since, running as much as she can on the grounds of Anmer Hall, her country house in Norfolk. Often Lupo (the family dog) will be by her side, and when her kids were young she’d run with a stroller.
Resistance training and weighted exercises
Though she loves the incidental exercise of outdoor activities (like skiing), the Duchess does reportedly ‘hit the gym’ in Kensington Palace too. According to an insider, she’d often train with her sister Pippa, “starting with cardio warm-ups, hip raises, diagonal and reverse lunges, stomach crunches, squats, calf raises, bridges and push-ups.”
Rowing
If you really want to work out like Kate Middleton, it’s time to get out on the open water. The Duchess is said to enjoy rowing, and according to a Harper’s Bazaar interview with Roberta Fiorito, cohost of the Royally Obsessed podcast, she even has a rowing machine at home.
Have you ever tried planking? What’s your favourite way to workout?
She looks fab 🙂
