Jennifer Aniston And Courteney Cox Ate This Salad Every Day For A Decade

To the outside world, Jennifer Aniston’s role on Friends is synonymous with the hairstyle “The Rachel”. However, to her inner Friends-clique, Jen was associated with something else entirely. The actress, known for her healthy eating habits, was the brains behind a salad recipe that she and co-stars Lisa Kudrow and Courteney Cox ate on set every day for a decade.

During a recent interview with the LA Times, long-time friend Courteney Cox revealed that Jen “just has a way with food.” Discussing the dish, now known across the Internet as “The Jennifer Aniston Salad,” the Homecourt founder described it as “a cobb salad that Jennifer doctored up with turkey bacon and garbanzo beans and I don’t know what.”

Luckily for us, a generation of Internet sleuths have uncovered what they believe to be the recipe and it’s since gone viral across TikTok (with a bit of creative license here and there).

TikTok user @themodernnonna’s recreation of The Jennifer Aniston Salad has been liked almost 100k times. In the video she gives us the closest possible version of how to make the delicious and healthy lunch, adding her own dressing of lemon and olive oil at the end.

Naturally, we’re pretty eager to try it out for ourselves because as Courteney said, “if you’re going to eat the same salad every day for 10 years, it’d better be a good salad, right?” Right.

Here’s the recipe for The Jennifer Aniston Salad (according to TikTok):

The Jennifer Aniston Salad

  • 3½ cups cooked bulgur wheat
  • 2-3 chopped small cucumber
  • ½ cup chopped parsley
  • ½ cup chopped mint
  • ⅓ cup chopped red onion
  • ½ cup chopped pistachios
  • 1 can chickpeas, drained and rinsed (optional: while not believed to have been in the original salad, TikTok users claim Jen loves chickpeas)
  • ½ cup crumbled feta

Dressing:

  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • ¼ cup extra virgin olive oil
  • Salt and pepper

Method:

  1. Cook the bulgar on the stove (per instructions on the back of the packet)
  2. Chop up all your vegetables and add everything to a bowl
  3. Crumble the feta and add chopped pistachios
  4. The dressing is optional (Jennifer’s original salad was undressed)

And enjoy!

How delicious does this sound? Are you going to give The Jennifer Aniston Salad a try?

  1. oh yum i want that salad but I’d have to swap the fetta cheese up with something vegan and I’d be right as rain (just effected by all the sheets of rain outside the window atm – by golly, La Nina has ARRIVED!)

  2. I do something like this about twice a week but some of the ingredients I do different but I could easily eat it every day which I might do when hubby is away with his operation in a few weeks. Oh now I remember what I had forgotten to get at the shops today….chickpeas.

  3. I have never heard of bulgur wheat but will be looking for it now that I know it is lower in calories compared to quinoa and can be a substitute for brown rice and couscous.

  4. I love salads but am happy to just make one up with the products on hand -I certainly would try it if I had all those products but wouldn’t go out to buy especially

  5. Oil and fetta, high fat which does not make it healthy. How boring, I eat salads every day (even in cold Vic winter) variety is the key, I put heaps of different things in, depending on what is available and in season. No oil, just lemon juice and a touch of tahini, grated fresh turmeric and ginger for flavour. Occasionally avocado.
