The Simple And Healthy Tweaks Jackie O Has Made To Her Diet

If you’ve been keeping up with radio host Jackie O, you would’ve seen the impressive health kick she’s been on. What began as a lifestyle reset after openly discussing a pandemic-induced weight gain, Jackie was determined to get back into shape by leading a healthier lifestyle and setting a better example for her daughter.

“I’m not looking to be Instagram skinny,” she told Daily Mail. “There are more important things than being a size six.”

And now, 18kgs and a Weight Watchers ambassadorship later, Jackie is looking and feeling better than ever.

In fact, her weight loss journey even caught the attention of online scammers who were using her image to promote diet pills.

What does Jackie’s day of eating typically look like?

These days the bulk of Jackie’s diet is no longer made up of takeaway meals, but instead nutrient-dense home-cooked dinners (accompanied by the occasional glass of wine and chocolate, of course).

Jackie’s lunch will often be made up of Vietnamese rice paper rolls which contain both protein and a high vegetable content. As a protein-rich snack, Jackie keeps pre-cooked slices of steak handy and will reach for a smoothie or Starbucks Frappuccino when she’s on the go.

Dinner includes vegetables and a protein whether it be chicken or steak.

  1. I will never be influenced by social media for how to look or be.
I make it a point to eat a decent breakfast. I have blood sugar issues (even though I’m not diabetic) so if I’m busy I get up earlier to make that all important commitment to my body. Fortunately I love fruit and veggies. I’m not a vegetarian but I eat as little meat as possible and have embraced a lot more vegetarian food. Because I’m quite active and eat lighter foods that suit my metabolism, I no longer have a weight issue. But I will say it has taken me a few years to get my diet right for me. When out of the house I take fruit, veggies, left overs or at a pinch a salad sandwich. Foods that my body can digest and nourish me. .

  2. Strange. You would think as people are home they would eat healthier and make way better choices. I never eat packaged food, takeaways, processed stuff…coming from the culture that everything is made and eaten fresh from whole foods. We did use oils though. My go to and 90% of daily intake is fruit (heaps of it). Super easy. The rest is potatoes, rice, grain, nuts, seeds, sprouted beans, veggies. Never had issues with excess fat in my life.

  3. So glad that Jackie O is eating a much healthier diet now days, especially being a good role model for her Daughter Kitty, that Women are beautiful and we don’t have to be a size 6 or less.

Now days I rarely have Take-away meals these days, choosing to cook my own even making my own gravies from scratch as well as pasta sauces.

  4. I was a very bad girl today! When I was walking through Coles, some Tim Tams fell into my basket and made their way home with me! But we will eat them sensibly, and the pack will last us for several nights, because we only have one each at a time. I have got a sweet tooth, but I eat well most of the time. I don’t eat red meat, and that’s only because I don’t like it. But I like chicken.

  5. I avoid eating out as much as possible. I make most of my meals from scratch and load up on lots of fruits and veggies. I try to avoid white carbs and instead opt for brown rice spaghetti and quinoa.

  6. I have a meal replacement shake for brekky & lunch is usually yoghurt with chia seeds. I seem to be one of the few people who have lost weight during lockdown. I got sick of cooking, so I turned to the shakes out of laziness.

  7. Making your own healthy meals is not hard, but it does take some practice. Having 5 kids, lunches to go is my daily routine. My kids love it when I make sushi, but homemade bacon and cheese rolls or breadsticks and a thermos of soup is our go-to lunch for winter. Every couple of days I make a batch of dough to save time in the morning.

  8. I have started making healthy choices, replacing all the fried stuff that I used to eat with baked alternatives and while weight loss has not been significant, I have seen a huge improvement in my energy levels

  9. I have oats for breakfast, soup or a meal replacement shake for lunch, and dinner can be anything that hubby cooks. Even though I have a sweet tooth I stopped buying chocolate and sweets a year ago. My treat for the day is a piece of homemade slice (no added sugar) for arvo tea.

  10. I’m reading through all the comments and I think I’m one of the unhealthiest BH members. I grew up in a household where we did not waste food. Everything on the plate was finished and nothing was thrown out. I cannot shake that mentality. I am almost always eating the leftovers. Lately breakfast has been toast, and I’m getting sick of it, to use up all the bread in the freezer. Lunch is usually leftovers (if I’m home) or at my parents (I don’t work far away from them). We try to eat vegetables – love brussel sprouts but our main meals contain meat. Its sometimes hard to cook three different meals. Sometimes the kids wont eat what we eat and the 5 year old is even pickier.

  11. I thought the lockdown was having the opposite effect with people finding the time to cook healthier meals, I find it hard to get the appetite for a good lunch at the moment, not much takes my fancy so I try to eat a couple of healthy snacks.

  12. I’ve always enjoyed Beauty Heaven for not posting a bunch of weight loss stories, unlike other women’s websites/mags. How about we focus on how we feel rather than how we look? Society already puts an insane amount of pressure on us to look a certain way (one way: thin).
Seeing this makes me much less likely to log on.

  13. I saw a photo of her recently and didn’t recognise her.
I think a lot of people put on extra weight during lockdown being at home more often. She will probably lose it at some stage if she wants to.
I’m pretty lucky with my weight, only tends to fluctuate due to hormones. I do try and watch what I eat and exercise and try to avoid chips which are my weakness, packet chips, hot chips, any kind of chip… yum…

  14. Since moving I did lose weight because I didn’t really have a home of my own so cooking was minimal but I also didn’t have take aways. Then when I purchased my new home I went to the supermarket, stocked my pantry and fridge and freezer, and started cooking again. As it was high point of Covid 19 and outings were not happening, eating and drinking at home was the norm. Yes, weight gain, grrr. Now I try to eat more fresh – salads, fish, steak, vegetable – all without the sauces or additives that make them more creamy or tasty. And, much less alcohol. I have actually tested this with daily weigh ins in the morning. If I have been drinking the previous day, then 1-2 kgs add on. If no alcohol, then either stable, or even a loss of 1-2 kgs. It is a long journey of life style change more so than dieting.
