Smoothies are a quick and easy way to boost your daily nutritional intake – plus they taste yummy and even the fussiest child can be convinced to slurp a green smoothie!
Smoothies make for a super quick breakfast and are ideal for an afternoon pick-me-up as the sweetness of the fruit can help curb sugar cravings.
All you need is a blender and some fresh fruit and maybe a few veggies. Try this basic healthy smoothie recipe:
2 bananas
2 oranges
1 apple
1 lemon
Fresh ginger (use as much or a little as you like but remember it does have a strong taste so don’t go overboard)
1 head of spinach, kale or a cos lettuce
Filtered water
Chop everything up
Blend a combination of fruit and veg, adding water as you go to create the right consistency.
Note: If possible use organic fruit and vegetables (or homegrown). Make sure you wash your fruit and vegetables well before use to remove any insects or pesticides – if using store bought non-organic.
You needn’t peel the apple or ginger.
