Fruit and vegetables play a major role in a healthy, nutritious diet. However, sometimes it’s a wee bit hard to actually squeeze the recommended daily intake into your diet every single day.
This is where wholesome smoothies and juices come in. They’re a delicious way to ensure you consume your much-needed vitamins, which in turn boosts the health of your skin. And we all want hydrated, glowy skin, right?
If you want to up your daily vitamin intake while enhancing your skin’s radiance, we recommend drinking this delicious juice. It’s one of the many outstanding recipes in the book 101 Juice Recipes by Joe Cross (he’s the genius behind the inspiring weight loss documentary Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead), and it’ll leave you glowing from the inside out.
FRESH CARROT, SPINACH AND APPLE JUICE RECIPE
“This juice is great for every skin type,” says Joe. “Parsley helps reduce water retention while the high amounts of omega fatty acids in spinach and the beta-carotene in the carrots help the skin glow from the inside out. The nutrients in apples assist in brightening skin tones and boosting hydration.”
Ingredients
2 carrots, unpeeled
2 handfuls of spinach
1 handful of parsley
2 apples, unpeeled
Method
Feed all the ingredients into your juicer one-by one. (Joe recommends using the Juice Fountain from Breville, because it has a bigger chute to fit in larger pieces of fruit, as well as an extra large pulp bin.) If you crave a colder beverage, add a handful of ice cubes to your glass after juicing the vegetables.
Do you consume enough fruit and vegetables on a daily basis? Have you heard of Joe Cross’s incredible weight loss documentary? Do you ever make your own fresh smoothies or juices?
I learnt something new about the parsley reducing fluid retention! And not peeling the carrots! Can’t wait to try the recipe
