Gabrielle Union Has The Best Response For Anyone Who Says She’s “Too Old” To Wear A Swimsuit

Here’s a thought: how about don’t tell Gabrielle Union (or anyone for that matter) what they can and can’t wear. At 50 years young, the actress is copping backlash from internet trolls for doing the alleged unspeakable — wearing a bikini.

Sorry come again? We were across the legal age limits for drinking, learning to drive and even getting your first job. But the cut off for wearing a swimsuit? Sit down and be quiet.

“I might just wear a swimsuit in the casket,” the Bring It On actress joked on the Who What Wear with Hilary Kerr podcast.

Unfortunately in 2023, being a celebrity means you’re all but guaranteed to be torn apart by strangers on the internet, particularly when it comes to body shaming. The lucky few, like Selena Gomez, and now, Gabrielle, are able to see through the sheer absurdity and have a bit of fun with it.

“Somebody said, ‘you’re old enough to be somebody’s grandma, why are you still like wearing swimsuits?'” she recounted.

…Wait, grandmas or people in their 50s can’t wear swimsuits? Oh okay, got it. *Adds grandmas can’t wear basic swimming attire to the rule book*. Ugh, please.

Responding in the only way she knows how, Gabrielle said, “First of all, they’re not just swimsuits, they are thongs and you’re gonna see these cheeks until my ass literally falls off.” Ah-maz-ing.

Later haters, we’re expecting (and hoping) to see Gabrielle’s swimsuit content increase tenfold. In fact, why don’t we all join her?

  1. Wow I’m going to be unpopular here! But I’d rather not see thongs (g-strings) on public beaches. I don’t care what age or what sex. If I’m at the beach I’d rather not see a hairy bum crack front and centre in my face. If it’s on her Instagram page (which is what it sounds like) then she can do what she wants, wear what she wants, at whatever age she wants. If someone doesn’t like it then scroll on by. But it’s a bit harder to avoid it in public.
