It seems TikTokers just can’t get enough of creating questionable beauty trends. Sure, we’ve come across a few handy hacks, like this $7 drugstore mascara that sent TikTok into meltdown, or the genius Kate Moss contour hack. But the app has certainly sparked some serious concerns – remember that controversial teen anti-ageing skin care routine?
And the beauty community is back at it again. This time, they’re using dry shampoo to *checks notes* shave their faces. If wondering how, here’s a quick tutorial.
And if you’re wondering why? Let us explain…
Why are TikTokers using dry shampoo on their faces?
If you’ve ever used dry shampoo (especially on darker hair), you’d know the struggle of the white powder residue a quick spritz leaves behind. And if you’re not ready to embrace your grey hair, white-tinged roots probably aren’t the look you’re going for.
But it turns out this powdery residue is good for highlighting that nearly invisible peach fuzz. And this is precisely what beauty creators are doing – spraying dry shampoo onto their cheeks to ensure no hair is missed during at-home dermaplaning sessions.
Don’t get us wrong, we’re all about dermaplaning. The technique has soooo many amazing skin benefits and will help your makeup look flawless every time.
But whilst the dry shampoo hack may seem like a great hack, we’re more concerned about the state of your skin afterwards. Dry shampoo is literally designed to absorb the oil in your hair so chances are it’ll leave your skin feeling dry and dehydrated.
If you are keen to try out the dry shampoo face shaving hack, use a good quality tool such as the Schick® Hydro Silk Dermaplaning Wand Professional-Style Kit ($20.49 at Chemist Warehouse).
And to combat dry, itchy skin, be sure to follow up with a hydrating skin care routine – a nourishing face oil will also go a loooong way in locking in that moisture.
As for us? We think we’ll stick to using our dry shampoo on our hair for now…

What do you think about this dry shampoo face hack? Would you be keen to give it a go?
Think that I will give that amiss I St and deplane my face with a deplaning wand, prefer to use soap or cleansing oil works even better.
Can’t say I ever thought to actually try this one, but if you’re using a good face oil and moisturiser it might not dry you out.
I won’t be trying that
Definitely not!
No, not something I would do .
On my head it’s okay but on my face, no way.
Yeah, and only on my head in moderation. It has ruined my scalp when I was using it too much, I’d hate to see what it could do the state of my sensitive face.
Yes Rinny I don’t like the feel of dry shampoo in my hair as it always feels itchy so would not use it on my face.
Yeah no
On a plus side, i can see well area razor has shaved. Usually I go over same area few times as I can not tell if I skipped a spot. So skin gets a bit irritated. They may be onto something here haha
You could probably use flour and get same effect ?
This doesn’t look like a good idea to me. I’ll pass thanks.
Well this is different, would never have thought of using dry shampoo or for that matter shaving my face.??
Now I’ve read the article I kind of see their logic but I won’t be doing it myself
No thanks, I can’t even be bothered shaving my legs sometimes!
Nope, not for me!
I have used dry shampoo on my hair since I was a teenager but I am so glad I grew up in the era I did without tik tok and these strange ideas.
Yeah nah.
Oh hell no.. that sounds like a terrible idea
No I am not keen on shaving my face and definitely won’t be doing this
I agree Juju47😁
Doesn’t shaving the face make it grow back faster and thicker? No thanks. Why are we obsessed with every little hair on our faces?
I can hear my mother in the background “if so and so jumped off a cliff would you?” A fad is a fad, not a common practice.
HaHa, she is right of course.
No way. I am all for using products for multiply purposes, but keep the dry shampoo for your scalp.
I haven’t tried dermaplaning.
Yeah nope. Not spraying those chemicals on my face near my eyes, nose and mouth.
Not interested in doing that.
I already dermaplane and have been for a few years now. I do mine on a sunny day near a window so I can see all my peach fuzz. I really don’t need to add anything. 5 mins and it’s done. I’m left with a clean face which makes my foundation stay in place for longer.
How stupid.
This just doesn’t seem like a good idea to me.
Dry shampoo on your face can’t be good for your skin.
Absolutely not!
My skin would NOT be happy with me putting dry shampoo on it!
I don’t think it’s a good idea.
Well this is different.
I wouldn’t do this, I have sensitive skin, especially on my face
surely dry shampoo isn’t great for your face
