If you love affordable beauty products that work, you’ll already be well acquainted with The Ordinary. And now, the science-led beauty brand has extended into haircare — cue our squeals of excitement.
Launching with three core products (available from March 8th), The Ordinary hair range consists of a shampoo, conditioner and scalp treatment. All of which feature quality ingredients at low prices, just like its beloved sisters in skin care.
Keen to know more about the products? We thought you’d never ask. We’ve even been granted a sneak peek of two of them, so you can read our first-hand review right here.
The Ordinary Sulphate Cleanser For Body and Hair
Thought sulphates in shampoo were a bad thing? The Ordinary want to set the record straight on that misconception by introducing a hair and body wash that champions the ingredient. The cleanser features SLES-2, which is a gentle, effective and biodegradable surfactant.
bh’s Sam says: I thought the sulphate cleanser would foam a lot and provide a seriously deep (almost stripping) clean like a clarifying shampoo. I couldn’t have been more wrong. It was very mild, foamed moderately and even felt more on the moisturising side. It’s clear and slightly runnier than your regular shampoo, with zero fragrance. I did find myself using more than I expected but the results were pretty good. I think it may have helped reduce some of my frizz and it provided a fresh, clean feel without drying out my hair.

The Ordinary Behentrimonium Chloride 2% Conditioner
According to The Ordinary, behentrimonium chloride is a pretty common ingredient found in conditioners (who knew?). Keeping the formula fairly simple, it’s said to improve the feel and look of hair after one use and won’t leave hair feeling heavy.

The Ordinary Natural Moisturising Factors + HA
A scalp treatment isn’t what we first expected when we heard The Ordinary was launching hair products. But then again, their serums are spectacular, so why wouldn’t we want something similar for our hair? Natural Moisturizing Factors are the key player here, providing protection and hydration to the scalp for overall hair health.
bh’s Sam says: The scalp treatment is incredibly lightweight and leaves no residue. I often worry when applying products to my scalp/root area that my hair will look greasy but it did nothing of the sort. It encourages use before bedtime and I’ve grown quite accustomed to a scalp massage as I apply it. Like the shampoo, it’s fragrance free and so I found it really pleasant and easy to use. It comes packaged very similarly to serum, with a pipette to control each dose. I had never really paid much attention to my scalp before, so I’ll happily continue using this and see what the long-term results are like.

Are you excited about The Ordinary launching hair products? Do they sound like something you’d like to try?
This is exciting! not too keen on sulphates though……….
Is that an ingredient that makes it foam up?
I’m not a fan of sulphates either, otherwise I’d be interested in these products.
Looking forward to reviews on these products.
I feel this is quite exy
Yes, Ellyloves, I don’t usually like to pay this much unless it’s for a super-mask like Olaplex or something similar.
How exciting! Would definitely try it out
I have bought these and just used, the shampoo does not foam up much at all, but surprisingly cleans quite good!! The conditioner feels amazing on the hair, my hair was quite tangled after rinsing (it usually is) once it started air drying it does feel much smoother and softer. First use though so we shall see with continued use
Wouldn’t mind trying these out
Interesting. Love haircare, so most probably will try the duo. Do not need scalp serum though.
I would love to try this.
I’m curious, but I like super-strong clarifying shampoos to strip all my grease, so I don’t think this would keep my hair clean for long?
I dont like it when I have to wash my hair every day because it greasy and like a shampoo that helps with that
The Ordinary have great products so I look forward to trying the hair care range.
Hope they are available at Priceline. Can’t wait to try.
I am so excited for this. Love that they are going to re-educate public about sulphates (massively misunderstood and absolutely green washed to the point we can’t have constructive dialogue about it).
Yes I think it is good to look at ingredients and understand why and what they are.
I’m not sure whether I’d buy the products or not.
The serum interests me & looks easy to apply. For the price though I wonder how much you would use each time?
Not much!! The conditioner really surprised me, it is concentrated. My hair is really long (waist length, thick) and i didnt need much at all. Usually I have to use heeaps but this one about the size of a 50c coin & a 20c roughly was enough which is less than what I usually have to use to coat the lengths
Would like to try these, the prices are great too
Yes prices are good.
Good to know. Be good to try if more reasonably priced.
I’ve liked other Ordinary products, so I will probably try this eventually.
Will definitely consider looking at using The Ordinary Shampoos and Conditioners. Thank You BH for your informative Article.
I might , not sure yet.
I’d give it a go. Why not?!
I wish they contained more natural ingredients.
Not all chemicals are bad though so may be worth looking up sulphates to see if they are bad ot not
As I have such a sensitive scalp, I doubt these product will suit me.
I like the sound of ordinary products and not too expensive so worth a try
They don’t sound like me products.
I find it interesting how different my hair feels after using various shampoos and conditioners. I’m always interested in giving products a try to see which ones work for me.
Oh man! Im so excited for their haircare products! Im totally going to try the scalp treatment. And they are well priced. Not bad
I look forward to reading reviews for these products. I assume that they will be available from retailers such as Adore Beauty.
Not sure if I like the containers. They are too plain.
Love The Ordinary products
Interested to see if it’s any good
A scalp treatment would be nice to try
Thats a good thing that it didn’t make hair look greasy.
I have never tried Ordinary brand before.
I love the Ordinary but I have very fussy hair. I’m sceptical that a one-shampoo/conditioner-fits all approach would work on my coarse frizzy hair. Hmmm…
Me too, like the thought of both a shampoo and a conditioner.
Hmm not convinced I need to buy special The Ordinary hair care.
Very interesting, would be interested in what others think before buying because they are quite exxy
Love their serums, so would give the hair care range a try.
I have read some really good reviews on these! I would definitely give them a try, I don’t think there’s been a TO product that I haven’t liked
Hard Pass…
Would be interested to try.
I’m not really keen on the look of this product, too plain??
not sure what i think of this range
I have used the argan oil for dry ends with a great result, thanks for the information
The Ordinary Hair Care line is a fantastic addition to the hair care industry. The products are high-quality, affordable, and effective at nourishing and strengthening the hair. I particularly love the Multi-Peptide Serum for Hair Density, which has made a noticeable difference in the thickness and health of my hair. The brand’s commitment to transparent labeling and using scientific ingredients is also a major plus.
I haven’t tried anything from this brand before.
I had heard of their skincare range, but I didn’t know they did hair products.
