Susan Sarandon’s Hilarious Strategy For Embracing Her Natural Curls

With a bright red mane of curls it’s hard to miss Susan Sarandon on the SAG-AFTRA picket line. Aside from her activism, we’re taking notes on her perfectly curled tresses. And while she’s no doubt one of the world’s biggest names now, Susan had her starts in various odd jobs, most notably as an amateur hairdresser. Those skills have stayed with her throughout the years with Susan still opting for a DIY at-home cut. But as anyone who’s given an at-home cut a go (we’re having major lockdown flashbacks) you’ll relate to her haphazard approach which she swears is “a mess”.

Susan Sarandon Curls

Susan loves a low-maintenance moment, but with such a stunning mane of curls she admits she does have to work for it. In saying that though, in the warmer weather, she goes totally rogue and opts for a “hairspray and hope for the best” approach. Luckily for her, when working on sets, the stylists often offer her wigs so that she’s not sitting in the makeup chair for hours. Regardless they give us major #hairgoals

Curly-girl Approved

While we don’t know her actual ‘routine’ (aside from hairspray and prayers) to embrace her curls of late but we can only imagine she’s invested in a frizz fighting mousse and good curl cream to define and add gloss. We’d recommend John Frieda Frizz Ease® Curl Reviver Mousse ($20.99 at Priceline) and Kerastase Nutritive Hair Mask for Dry Thick Hair ($81 at Adore Beauty).

We’ll be sure to keep you posted if Susan herself drops any more hair care hacks to help  manage her mane of curls…

  1. My daughter has beautiful curls – not sure who she inherited the curly hair gene from – but these days she pretty much runs her fingers through her hair and off she goes.

  2. Yes I do and even when I use lots of products it never turns out how I want it to. So I either put it in a low bun with some hairspray or I straighten my hair or create soft waves
