If you’re one of the eight million Australians coming out of locked down, it’s time to celebrate. Salons are back, baby.
And as hairdressers around the country begin re-opening up their doors, it’s time to get ready.
Ready with inspo pics, a vocab full of the latest trendy terms (forget balayage, we now only speak of ‘bronde’) and well, the part that might prove the most difficult, snagging yourself an actual appointment.
So without a second more to waste, here are eight spring hair colour trends that we suggest you save or screenshot for your upcoming salon visit.
Peachy Copper
Peaches might just be the best part of the warmer seasons. So why not double down on the golden delights by incorporating some peachy tones into your hair.
“Peachy copper tones are a great way to bring vibrancy back to natural coppers while still maintaining a natural look,” says Edwards And Co salon founder and director, Jaye Edwards. And for the lighter-haired ladies, “it’s a great way to warm up your blonde tones, ready for the hot months ahead.”

Warm Brondes
As you might’ve guessed from the name, ‘bronde’ refers to a hybrid colour of blonde and brunette. Achieved through balayage or highlighting techniques, a classic warm bronde is natural, effortless and low-maintenance.
Jaye praises this look as “the perfect way to add a natural pop of colour for spring”.
The perfect candidates? Blondes who don’t want constant touch-ups or brunettes wanting to go lighter without making any drastic changes.
Scandi Blonde
“An Instagram and TikTok favourite, the Scandi blonde is back in a big way” says Jaye. A classic Scandi blonde look is clean, white and bright. Free of any remnants of yellow, bronze or ash tones. Gorgeous.
Jaye does warn that this colour is “even more high maintenance than a scalp bleach”, though, and will require regular glosses and high-quality at-home products.

Sun-Kissed Curls
Play to your strengths and make your natural curls pop. Jaye best describes this style as “sun-kissed bronde tones seamlessly blended to enhance natural colour”.
His biggest tip for styling this look? Hydration, hydration, hydration. “Ensure you are investing in quality products for hydrated curls, free from fizz and defined to perfection.”
Chocolate Brown
While some of these spring hair trends require a few tricky techniques and the combining of a few different shades, this classic colour is as simple as it gets. For far too long brunettes have been spending their dough on blonde upkeep, but this spring it’s all about the natural chocolate brown.

Sandy Blonde
This shade of blonde is all about looking lived-in and effortless. Keep your roots as close to their natural shade as possible with a mixture of baby blonde, deep honey and warm sandy shades faded into your hair.

50 Shades of Purple
Think orchid, lilac, violet and amethyst. Last year we lived for an icy, baby pink and this year we are all about the warm and vibrant but soft purple hues.

Salt And Pepper
Another major theme for spring 2021 hair trends is keeping things natural. And what’s more natural (and empowering) than clearing the stage for some of our silver and grey tones to shine through?

I would go for peachy copper.
I have only ever had highlights in my hair. Very lucky to say that I have not yet started getting grey but will not mind when I do.
I was at the hairdresser the other day and sitting next to was an elderly lady who was having her hair dyed purple. She mentioned to me that she often does this as her favourite colour is purple.
Chocolate brown is definitely my hair style always lol
all are super pretty
Chocolate brown is my go to all year round
I am loving the purple shades.
I’m happy with my hair these days
Purple would be my pick of these options.
Chocolate brown for me.
I currently have a mix of dark blonde and soft violet.
very pretty, love them all
I stopped dyeing my hair many, many years ago because of the harsh chemicals and I learned to like my natural hair colour. The only colour I’d try would be violet on the ends just to see what it would look like.
The sandy blonde looks nice
