Q) “I really want to perfect that tousled, bed head look but don’t know how? Celebrities make it look effortless and sexy, what’s their secret?” – Lipstick Lovie, NSW
A) “In the months leading up to and after summer, hair is always about long and loose waves, most commonly referred to as bed hair. It is a really easy look to achieve using a medium sized barrel tong, following these steps:
Start with a thermal protectant while you allow your curler to reach a maximum heat before starting.
Wrap hair around the tong towards your face and in the same direction, at the same angle. This is so when the hair is brushed out it forms deep-crested waves.
When you unravel, pull the curl out to relax it and let the waves set in.
If your hair is naturally wavy be sure to use a moisturising product to aid in sealing out the humidity and to prevent frizzies.
Then, when blow-drying, place a diffuser onto your hair dryer and let the hair gently fall into the diffuser.
To best allow for a naturally wavy finish, don’t blow out your entire hair – keep in some moisture.
To ensure your hair keeps its style; use a hairspray to finish and DON’T TOUCH YOUR HAIR TOO MUCH.”
