With And Just Like That back for another season, our Thursday nights have never been more exciting. You can forget the show’s actual plotline (um, what’s going on again?) because it’s Sarah Jessica Parker’s luscious honey-blonde waves and her dewy, fresh-faced makeup (which can be credited to this cream bronzer) that has made it a must-watch.
But most of all, our addiction to the show is undoubtedly fuelled by Sarita Choudhury; the breakout star who plays Carrie Bradshaw’s real estate agent-turned-friend, Seema.
So in good news for all, our weekly dose of Sarita has come early. The actress recently sat down with New Beauty to share her best beauty hack, refreshing (and hilarious) thoughts on ageing and the one makeup step she can’t quite nail.
What is Sarita’s best beauty hack?
Forget everything you know about creating voluminous curls, Sarita wants you to put down the curling wand and instead, take a trip back in time using a hair tool that might be collecting dust at the bottom of your cupboard. “I like using hot rollers. My hair feels more old-fashioned, yet full,” she said.
Come to think of it, Sarita does have some of the fullest hair in Hollywood. Add the VS Sassoon Classic Multi Curls – VS3060A ($39 at Target) straight to cart, please.
Admittedly, with all that time spent in the makeup chair, Sarita claimed she still “can’t master any beauty move.”
In fact, the step that stumps her the most? Foundation and concealer. “It can look good in photos, but in real life, it makes me feel cakey and older,” she noted.
When asked what the greatest thing about ageing is, Sarita said: “I always wanted to be like those older French actresses in their chic trench costs with their effortless red lipstick and a cigarette hanging out of the side of their mouth.”
Doesn’t that answer sound like something plucked straight from one of Seema’s scenes? We couldn’t love it more.

Have you used hot rollers recently? If not, how do you curl your hair?
I’ve never used hot rollers before and I rarely curl my hair because it has a natural wavy curl. I prefer to wear my hair straight.
Neither have I!
I never used hot curlers, I have a curler I only use occasionally.
I wish I had half of the amount of hair she has. Mine is straight and fine and short. One thing I could change is the length?
She has so much volume! I love it
I have never used hot rollers, I just use my straightener to create curls
I’ve never used hot rollers either and my attempts at using my straightener have been a bit of a failure as well.
Agree with foundation and concealers, making one look older. She sounds cool
I no longer apply concealer or foundation under my eyes for the same reason. My once poker straight hair has developed a natural wave, so I seldom curl it.
My Mum used these before tongs were invented.
I remember buying my mum hot rollers for her 50th birthday. She hardly ever used them though, preferring to use plastic rollers when her hair was damp.
I use heated rollers daily, for fine hair they are great
I use my straightener to curl my hair.
I haven’t used hot rollers for decades. My hair doesn’t seem to hold a curl.
I don’t curl my hair – I straighten it. Until last night I would not have come across Sarita, but I watched a movie last night with her in it.
She has great hair, and in contrast my hair is short and very fine. I don’t style it.
When I used hot rollers, the style would fall out in half an hour. Even when a hairdresser did it. Not worth it for me.
I’ve never tried hot rollers
I prefer not to use hot anything on my hair. I also use heatless rollers if I have to.
Hot rollers certainly are a blast from the past, even further back was hair in rags
I remember the curls made with rags. My hair was too fine but many friends did curls rolling their hair in rags overnight. Made quite delightful curls if I am remembering correctly
And I still have my hot rollers. Maybe its time to bring them out again.
Oo id love to give them a go! I just apply cream & serum after the shower on my towel dried hair
Well she looks very cool in this hair style …
What gorgeous hair she has!
Yes it is amazing!
I used to have some but didn’t use them barely ever so I ended up giving away at some stage I think
I haven’t used hot rollers recently, but I would again as I’m hopeless with a curling wand & I’ve got the kind of hair that doesn’t hold a curl well anyway. From memory, my curls do hold a bit better when using rollers, so maybe I’ll give them another go at some stage.
A friend at work gave me her hot rollers that she didn’t want anymore because my daughter wanted to experiment. It’s the VS set as above. They take a while to heat up and are a little fiddly. I’ve only played with them once but now have a reason to test them out properly so that I can review them.
