If you’re ever after a hair how-to or makeup tutorial, you’re in safe hands when scrolling the Instagram of radio host, activewear designer and Spray Aus founder, Rebecca Judd. Her latest lesson comes in the form of her signature tousled, beach wave, live from her bathroom in  locked-down Melbourne.

Going a few days without a wash, Bec begins her styling session with a good spray of Klorane’s latest dry shampoo, the Detox Dry Shampoo with Aquatic Mint. She not only applies it at her roots, but down the ends of her hair too, for extra texture and hold.

After clipping the top of her hair back, Bec takes her first hair section, or as she calls it, a “chunk”, and wraps it around the tong “away from the face”. She notes the importance of leaving the end piece of the hair section out of the tong, explaining that this is how to give curls “a more beachy and relaxed look”.

While she doesn’t name the exact tong she’s using, she does recommend using a bigger barrell if you have longer hair, and to stick to a narrower one if you’ve got a bob or shorter hair.

bh recommends: ghd curve® soft curl tong

The best tip of all, however, is the specific place that Bec starts her curl. The mum-of-four explains that by starting the first bend at the top of your cheekbone and not too close to the roots, it will create a flattering angle that both frames the cheekbone and also extends them outward – clever!

Repeating until each section is curled, Bec finishes by working the dry shampoo through her hair to add volume and texture. A good hair shake later and, voila –the ultimate beachy bounce.

  1. Rebecca Judd always looks beautiful she has lovely long hair and the large curling tongs certainly does the trick. Personally I use the smaller curling iron because of having a short bob.

  2. I should try something like this with my Muk stick. I like wavy hair. It looks pretty. I’m stuck in locked down Miserable Melbourne too. Might give me something to do for half an hour! (Can you tell I’m frustrated!)

  3. The video was too short would of loved to see the finished look. I’ve got to get a curling rod I’m sick of straight hair all the time. I’ll have to try Klorane’s products.
