Every year Pantone® (the world-renowned authority on colour and provider of colour systems) announces their Color Of The Year. Last year, it was Marsala, and the year before that it was Radiant Orchid.
Trendsetters, designers (and pretty much anyone who likes colours) all over the world wait to see which colour will be named THE ONE for the next year, (Sea Siren even created a nail collection for the 2014 colour) – but this time everyone was surprised when TWO colours were chosen for the honour.
Pantone® announced the colours, stating on Instagram:
“It’s here! We are proud to announce the Pantone #ColoroftheYear for 2016 is #RoseQuartz & #Serenity.”
A statement was also released to explain that the reasoning behind choosing both Rose Quartz and Serenity, was to represent wellness and connection “as well as a soothing sense of order and peace”.

Personally, the rose quartz shade reminds me of fairy floss (YUM!) and serenity seems like a blue you’d find on a My Little Pony, but together they do remind me of a beautiful sunset. You know when the sky turns all those pretty shades of pinks and blues? And to me, you can’t get much more peaceful than that.
