Since arriving on our screens as a ‘90s child star at only 13, Natalie Portman has solidified her status as Hollywood royalty. And, given the countless red carpet glam moments she’s graced us with over the decades, she’s joined the likes of Jennifer Lopez as one of the most influential beauty icons out.
When we think of Natalie’s Signature look, we think of her stunning side- swept, mid-length, wavy caramel locks. But she’s had many (some very edgy) looks over the years – and still managed to pull them off like no other. Let’s peruse the highlights of Natalie Portman’s hair evolution, shall we?
Natalie Portman’s best hair moments
1995
First appearing as a teenager on our screens, Natalie’s fresh-on-the-scene hair matched the look of the decade.
2005
Okay it’s here. Her most drastic cut –and we are obsessed. In 2005, Natalie shaved her head to a buzzcut (gasp) for her role in V for Vendetta, truly solidifying her beauty queen status and ability to look amazing no matter what.
2010
After her incredibly haunting role in The Black Swan, she debuted her lightest colour yet. For the New York premiere, Natalie styled her ombre bronde locks into middle- parted, half- up curls.
2013
Bringing her edginess back for the Thor: Dark World premiere, she debuted an unbelievably stunning asymmetrical chocolate lob. While it’s not her most memorable style, we absolutely loved this look on her.
2018
Arriving at the 75th Venice Film Festival, her signature side-swept locks perfectly curled, Natalie was nothing short of breath taking. This stunning ombre caramel hue was her lightest colour yet – definitely one to save for inspo!
2018
We just can’t get enough of her 2018 Venice Film Festival looks! Natalie really nailed the beachy wave look, and her stunning ombre perfectly catches the light and frames her face.
2019
At this 2019 event Natalie stepped out at the 2019 Variety Power of Women awards embracing her natural curls. Wowing us with a stunning light caramel lob, she chose to style her enviable locks swept over to the side.
2020
The bob is back, we repeat, the bob is back! But, this time, it’s beyond elevated, with honey highlights brown and styled to perfection with a beautiful wave movement. Introducing us back to the bob era at the 2020 Oscars red carpet, we’re very here for a more edgy Natalie cut.
2022
Our favourite astrophysicist-turned-superhero stepped out to celebrate her role in the Thor: Love and Thunder film. Sporting deep chocolate locks, sleekly styled into a mid bun to perfectly accentuate her stunning features.
2023
Making a stunning entrance to the 2023 Canne Film Festival, Natalie kept things simple, styling her classic brunette locks into a low, sleek bun. This is, without a doubt, one of our favourite hair looks – truly a timeless classic!
2023
We never get sick of seeing the iconic Natalie Portman look. Her 2023 Paris Fashion Week ‘do has become our go-to hair inspo – light waves, a middle part and slightly highlighted caramel locks. We’re dreaming of having a hair day this good…

Even with Natalie shaving her head she still manages to be beautiful. these photos are amazing.
I like her 2018 look with the black outfit. Sort of looks a bit like Julia Roberts there.

Her hair same always, minus the shaved head.
I’m envious of anyone who can look so good with a buzz cut. My favourite was her 2023 Cannes look.
So many lovely looks
She is unrecognisable with shaved head.
2018
Like her hair styles best in 2018, gorgeous
Natalie is a natural beauty and can pull off any hair style.
She carries all those looks off, but I like her hair down best.
Hard to choose a favourite! But the 2018 one is something else.
Circa 2010 for the win.
Not a fan of the latest look, her 2010 curls were nice
She’s gorgeous, her hair looks amazing.
Beautiful hair! She likes short hair, easier to care for
Yes short hair, if it suits you, is easier to care for, but long hair is so good to just pull back and put it in a ponytail.
Any hairdo looks great on her.
Yes she has very pretty hair to do it with
I like them all on her!
The last photo is not the best hair look. If she did that herself it looks good, if a professional did it – they need to be fired.
I love all her looks
