It’s my favourite time of year – tax time! Yes, while all our accountants are buried under a mountain of payment summaries, here at beautyheaven we’re busy planning out exactly what to spend our tax returns on. And what better way to splurge than buying some of the most expensive beauty products money can buy?
RELATED: Beauty indulgences worth splurging on
I can already picture you rolling your eyes, thinking ‘I’ve got real things I need that money for, Kate!’ And I totally agree – blowing a whole bunch of money on the most expensive makeup or the most expensive face cream you can find is a little silly. But I worship at the altar of ‘treat yourself’ and I firmly believe that everyone can have a little luxury, even if the price tag isn’t necessarily that high.
So without further ado, let’s find you the perfect beauty gift-to-self! You deserve it.
EVY Professional iQ-OneGlide, $299
This styling iron from EVY Professional is the ultimate luxury hair tool. The iQ-OneGlide contains 32 minerals and 24-carat gold (!!) to infuse hair with hydration and shine while styling. The three-strip plate provides a smooth glide through the hair, so you don’t have to deal with any nasty snags. There’s also a digital temperature display and a metal ceramic heater that’s ready quick smart. Yes please!
Kérastase Chronologiste Caviar In-Salon Ritual, $65
I recently experienced the Kérastase Chronologiste luxury treatment at my local Franck Provost salon and it was heaven . First, a purifying scalp scrub gave my hair a thorough clean. Then the real luxury began, as the ‘caviar’ was mixed with the Chronologiste conditioner and was left on my hair for 10 minutes to soak in. Note – it’s not real caviar, it’s a sealed package with little beads that resemble caviar, hence the name. They’re filled with antioxidants and vitamins that give hair so much softness, it’s ridiculous. Obsessed!
La Prairie Skin Caviar Concealer Foundation, $290
Yes it’s pricey, but since it’s both a highly-pigmented foundation and a concealer in one, it’s not as bad as it looks. Plus, this wonder product also contains anti-ageing skin care ingredients such as caviar. And yes, this foundation actually does contain caviar! It’ll plump your fine lines and protect your skin from myriad environmental factors, all while simultaneously providing you with a glowing, dewy complexion. It also contains SPF15+ and comes with a matching mini brush and powder compact.
Chanel Le Vernis Nail Colour, $41
If there’s one brand that epitomises luxury, it’s Chanel. And while I’m a long way off being able to buy that bag I’ve been lusting after, I can afford to treat myself to one of Chanel’s amazing nail colours. At $41 they’re still a little steep, but the long-lasting formula and glossy finish make them well worth skipping your next trip to the nail salon. Plus, there are so many vibrant colours to choose from!
La Mer The Body Crème, 300ml, $350
We spend all this time and money on our faces that we often forget that our bodies need some serious TLC too. If you want to really upgrade your body moisturiser, might we suggest La Mer’s The Body Crème . Not only does it deliver intense hydration to your precious limbs, it also works to diminish discolouration while firming and toning the skin. Don’t want the splurge but still after some skin-firming goodness? We also love the Alpha Keri Anti Cellulite Body Butter .
Dyson Supersonic, $499
This hair dryer might cost almost as much as your annual car registration, but there’s a few reasons why. The first is that it is super fast-drying, which is great because ain’t nobody got time for that. The second is that it helps prevent heat damage to the hair by checking air temperature 20 times every second, so your tresses won’t be fried. The third is that it’s super quiet – no more worrying about waking up your neighbours while blow drying your hair at 6am! It also comes with three other nozzles for styling precision.
Jo Malone Blackberry & Bay Shower Oil, $70
Sometimes all a girl needs to feel a little special is an uber-luxe bath or shower product. This shower oil has become a new favourite of mine thanks to the intoxicating scent. The thin oil instantly lathers as soon as it comes in contact with water, allowing for an easy wash for the whole body. The scent smells incredible in a hot shower and transforms your entire bathroom into a day spa. Just add a fluffy bathrobe and slippers and you’ve got yourself the ultimate night in!
