Miranda Kerr’s hair care secrets revealed

We know you all love her for various reasons, but one reason in particular that you can’t get enough of Miranda Kerr is because her hair is just so awesome. How do we know that? Well, we’ve been keeping tabs and it turns out ‘Miranda Kerr hair’ is one of the top terms people type into search engines when doing their beauty research.

That happens to be incredibly timely, as Miranda has just been named as the Global Ambassador for Clear Scalp & Hair Beauty Therapy, and the brand has released the new Intense Hydration Shampoo and Conditioner range, too! So, with so much great news, we thought it was high time we sought out Miranda’s best ever hair tips – and try to squeeze out any other beauty tips she’s willing to spill.

BH: How do you look after your hair to ensure it stays in top condition, despite the constant styling it would undergo as part of your work?

MK: Well, I’ve been using Clear for the last two and a half years because I really find that it makes my hair stay strong and healthy. Combined with a diet that’s full of leafy green vegetables and high-quality protein, I feel like it’s a great combination to ensure strong and healthy hair.

BH: Take us through your everyday ‘go-to’ hair styling routine? Is your hair naturally curly or straight?

MK: It’s naturally straight and if I’m not working you’ll often see that I just like to put it in a low plait or back in a ponytail and I like to keep it quite simple. I wash my hair every second day with Clear and then I like to get head massages. I also rinse my hair with cold water after I’ve shampooed and conditioned, because it closes the hair shaft and makes it really shiny. So I feel like that’s a good tip. And as I said, getting a head massage is really nice.

BH: What’s been your biggest ever beauty faux pas?

MK: Probably when I got a perm. I think I was about 10, I had dead straight hair and went to the hairdressers with my mum and she was getting a perm. My mum was like ‘I can’t do anything with her hair, it’s dead straight’ and so I got a perm with my mum (laughs).

BH: What three beauty staples would we find in your bag?

MK: My Kora Organics rose-hip oil, that’s a great multi-purpose oil for my face. I put it on every night or when I’m travelling. It’s very good, it’s got a high concentrate of vitamin C and it’s also got your essential fatty acids. It’s very rejuvenating! And then my mum has this hand sanitizer and it’s organic, it’s called Devine. It smells so good. And then probably my hand cream as well.

So, hand cream, rose hip oil, hand-sanitizer, and an eyelash curler. I do this thing, if I curl my eye lashes, I’ll put mascara on, if I don’t curl my eye lashes, I don’t put mascara on. So some days I go without any mascara and I’ll just put on a little bit of concealer or my tinted moisturiser and a red lip.

BH: What do you do to maintain healthy, glowing skin?

MK: I make sure every day, morning and night I cleanse, tone and moisturise. That’s really important. It’s such a great practice to get into and it doesn’t matter how exhausted I am, I just make sure I cleanse, tone and moisturise and I notice the benefits. Then what else… I exfoliate every couple of days. I really believe in that to regenerate the skin and to have the products like the rose-hip oil penetrate even deeper. Body brush, I dry body brush every morning and sometimes at night as well.

BH: What’s the best beauty trick you’ve been taught in your time as a model?

MK: It’s hard to say (just) one best beauty trick. But one interesting trick is to curl your eyelashes with a spoon, have you heard that? So you get a teaspoon and then you curl them and you can heat it a little bit.

BH: What’s your best no-nonsense health advice?

MK: I have a lot of health advice (laughs). Cold-pressed organic green juices, really. That’s my thing; I mean I feel that it’s so good for your skin, your hair and your energy levels. Obviously lots of water and I like alkaline water as well. I’ve been practising yoga and meditation for 15 years, so I feel like even just taking five minutes to do a few deep belly breaths makes a difference when you have a busy day.

What do you do to take care of your hair? Will you follow any of Miranda’s advice? What is your biggest ever beauty faux pas?
