Is limp hair the next big beauty trend?

Is limp hair the next big beauty trend?

If you’re like bh’s hair editor, Astrid, you’ve probably always coveted a more voluminous ‘do. You may have even tried some of these products to get thicker strands.

But here’s some good news for fine-haired beauties: limp strands are officially in.

Yes, you read that right. At recent international fashion weeks, flat and fine hair was the name of the game, with models’ manes sitting totally flat at the roots (with a bit of a kink at the ends, at best).

Apparently, the hairstylists wanted to reduce the volume so they could highlight the shape of the back of the girls’ heads – which is kind of a weird body part to celebrate, but let’s just go with it.

Similar to the sleek roots we saw at NYFW, it kind of makes sense, what with our ongoing fascination with effortless, slept-in hair.

And while it’s a pretty typical ‘trend’, it’s certainly not as shocking as the ‘baby burns’ or pixelated hair looks we’ve seen lately!

As someone who’s waging an ongoing battle with too-thick hair, I can definitely see the appeal of limper locks. To get the look, a volume-reducing treatment such as Kerastase Oléo-Relax Slim Masque is a worthy investment. I’d also recommend swapping your dry shampoo for a hair oil such as L’Oréal Hair Expertise EverSleek Precious Oil (which absorbs instantly so your strands won’t feel greasy). For maximum flattening, apply to your hair after washing and then sleep on it while damp.

Do you crave limper locks, or do you prefer a bit of volume?
