If you gave me three desert island items, they’d be water (hello!), a hair straightener, and a hair curler. Seems dramatic, I know, but that’s how important my hair is to me. And as someone who has natural curls (but a frizz-prone pattern I don’t feel my most confident with) and craves soft, smooth, sleek waves, it’s not an ‘either or’ scenario for me.
I need to be able to straighten, then curl to achieve my signature style. Let’s just say I’d need to hope that said desert island didn’t have strict luggage weight restrictions, because I genuinely couldn’t choose between the two.
And so I’ve often found myself wondering why on earth some hair tool wizard doesn’t combine curling and straightening into one easy-to-use streamlined tool? Well, now they have. Lady Jayne took it upon themselves to answer my personal plea (so I’m now thinking it’s potentially been echoed by Aussie women everywhere).
With the launch of their Lady Jayne Salon Pro Rechargeable 2 in 1 Hair Styler, they hold the ability to change the hair tool game (and my life) completely. So let’s find out what it was like when I took the tool for a test-drive…
Lady Jayne 2 in 1 Styler Beauty Editor Review
Okay, first, I want to talk about convenience. Now say the desert island scenario was real; I’d be set up so much better than if I were using traditional tools. Firstly because there would be one instead of two, and secondly, because I wouldn’t be dealing with a pesky power cord. Yep, you read that right: the Lady Jayne Salon Pro Rechargeable 2 in 1 Hair Styler ($99.99 at Chemist Warehouse) is in fact cordless, instead using a USB-C rechargeable port (and the supplied cord) to boost its battery. Charge it up (my first charge took about three hours) and you’ll be free to style your strands wherever and whenever you need to.
For example, I packed mine in my work carry-all tote one day, and touched up my straight-up-top, wavy-at-the-bottom look before a meeting at my desk. After leaving that style in for the day, I then added more defined curls in the back of my Uber on the way to an event that evening. That’s the kind of convenience we’re talking about here. I was worried I’d at least feel the weight of the tool in my bag, but it’s actually incredibly lightweight. It does take about 3-5 minutes to preheat, so just make sure you allow yourself enough time, especially when on the go.
Now for the actual styling intel – was the tool able to provide both straight and wavy/curled looks like it claims? You bet it was. The straightening was a smooth success story that left my hair feeling fresh and sleek. I saw a bit less frizz than usual in the final product too, perhaps due to the ceramic technology powering the plates and helping them to seal the hair cuticle as they style. ‘Glide’ is always the goal for me with a straightening tool, and this one provided just that.
I was personally a touch nervous about being able to successfully master a ‘straightener curl’, as I’ve always been more of a curling wand type of person. And yet the smooth, curved barrel of the tool was a pleasant surprise that made the process easy – my hair didn’t drag or get stuck, and the curls came out free of ‘straightener dent’ (AKA where you can see where the styler got stuck). The curls were a nice shape, and there was definitely some flexibility in how loose or tight you could make them; another great feature. I will say, I practiced my curl wrapping/rotating technique a few times before heating the tool up, and it proved a worthy prep step – once the heat was ready, so was I.
Speaking of heart, you do have options. The tool features 3 LED Digital Heat Control options, allowing for both even heat distribution (vital) and precise temperature selection, so you can choose the level of heat you’re working with based on your hair type and goals. For example, sometimes if you’re just after a speedy touchup, you won’t need as much heat as you would for a end-to-end styling session.
Because Lady Jayne clearly know what we need to nail our hair styling routines, they also supplied the perfect Paddle Brush to use alongside the tool, which ensured tangles didn’t tarnish my experience, and that my curls were perfectly brushed out post-styling. I tossed it into my tote for the day/night too – you could definitely rake through with your fingers if you were travelling with a smaller bag, but I had the room, so I went all out.
If I had to use one word to sum up the whole experience using the Lady Jayne Salon Pro Rechargeable 2 in 1 Hair Styler ($99.99 at Chemist Warehouse, it’d be ‘easy’. It delivered multiple styles seamlessly, it allowed me to tailor the temperature used, and most importantly, if you ask me, it was an absolute breeze to use on the go. Even my lovely female Uber driver noted how impressed she was about the transformation I pulled off from the backseat. I was glad there was a witness who could truly appreciate the win of ‘curling from the car’, and you best believe I told her immediately what she needed to add to cart…

I love that it’s cordless!
Yes cordless make life so much easier.
Such a good idea -why have two gadgets when one will do both jobs!
It sounds like a great idea
Oh my goodness, it’s a cordless straightener!!! That’s so convenient when you are running late for work or need to style up for an event after work!! Fantastic editorial review that we can all relate to ! Well done Delaney!! I am literally wondering how to convince my hubby that I need this. He will be like, ANOTHER one!?!? hahaha
Ooooh, I am intrigued…
You did your hair in an Uber? OMG!
Wow I don’t think I could style my hair in the back of an Uber.
As long as your bag is big enough
I wouldn’t mind a cordless straightener, but I have no need for a curler.
I dont use hair styling tool much
Sounds like a time and space saver
I love the features on it.
I am so clumsy wiht tools that I don’t think I’d dare try to do my hair in the back of a car.
The article was very informative and well written and sounds great for those that need both a curler and straightener. Myself I would need just the curler and being cordless, how convenient!
Hair styling isn’t one of my forteits unfortunately. Just do the best I can and get on with it.
