Whoever said a good hair day isn’t a matter of life or death was sorely mistaken. Don’t believe us? Just ask Kristin Chenoweth who credits her hair extensions as the key factor in surviving a near-fatal lighting equipment accident.
Back in 2012, while filming the TV series The Good Wife, Kristin recalls taking a snack break to buy a Slurpee at a local 7-Eleven, only to wake up in hospital sometime after (sans Slurpee).
“I heard like a flagpole sound,” she recalled during a recent appearance on Watch What Happens Live. “I heard ‘we’re losing the light’ and I heard action, and I woke up at Bellevue hospital.”
“[The lighting equipment] hit me in the face and then threw me into a curb,” she explained.
The damage? “A seven-inch skull fracture, a hairline crack and fracture [in her nose] and cracked teeth and ribs.” Though the accident has left some “long-standing injuries,” Kristin reveals that the outcome was almost a lot worse.
“My hair extensions saved my life,” she said.
“My doctor said, ‘what are these metal things?’ and I said, ‘they’re hair extensions’ and he said, ‘they saved your life.'”
According to Kristin’s doctor, her hair extensions created a barrier between the fallen lighting equipment and her skull which “made the hairline fracture go together.” In other words, they prevented her head from completely splitting open then and there.
Keeping an otherwise heavy situation light, Kristin joked, “anybody who wants to get hair extensions should, for your health.”
There we have it, on top of increased fullness and extra length, hair extensions can now add ‘skull protector’ to its long list of benefits.
Have you ever had hair extensions? If not, does this make you more open to giving them a go?
My hair is quite long anyway so wouldn’t consider extensions.
Same here Hayley
That’s so lucky!
She’s so lucky
Omg that’s so scary! Glad she is ok
Also I have never used hair extensions before but I would be open to it
What luck.
Never had hair extensions myself.
i haven’t either as I have thick hair that grows fast
I love her in glee, she’s so funny
yes clever lady
I have long hair, there is no need for extensions.
Wow! What a story she has to tell.
That would be scary but not a normal event so would get hair extensions for this reason
I’ve never had them and I doubt I ever will, the clips holding them in place must be sturdy, luckily for her.
Sorry, hard to believe this story. Wonder if she has a stake in a hair extension business.
Hahaha, that’s a good point!
Thank God for the Hair Extensions that saved Kirsten Chenoweth’s life so very amazing she was truly blessed.
Very lucky lady
An amazing story, if it’s true
That was very serious
That is freakishly lucky
My hair is hip-length, so I’ve got no need for extensions.
This sounds like a freak accident – or negligence! She’s lucky!
I have never used one.I have long hair and don’t need one.
What a dreadful accident
She was a very lucky woman.
Great story, but a total freak accident that wouldn’t impact on my decision either way.
I haven’t had them and what a story to tell, she was very lucky.
Have quite long hair. No need. So funny, not the fall, but the extensions serving as a helmet
One very lucky lady
I’m not a fan of hair extensions. Unless I have no hair or if I have bold spots, I would consider extensions
Wow how scary for her.
SO glad she’s alright now
Wow! :O
