Picture this. You’ve spent 45 minutes washing, blow-drying, straightening your hair, only to have the whole sexy, sleek ‘do ruined by flamin’ flyaways.
First up, put the straighteners down – you should not be holding electric equipment whilst in possession of that much anger. Secondly, back away from the serum. It may seem like the simple solution to smooth flyaways but really, you’ll only serve to make your locks look greasy, which means heading back to the start without collecting $200.
What you actually need to do is take a piece of advice from Sonia Cotroneo, Style Director at Dario Cotroneo. She suggests investing in a big make-up brush – try Natural Glamour Luxury Body Brush for size – and some decent hairspray.
Holding the can about 30cm away, no closer as you only want to spritz the brush, not make it soggy and sticky, lightly mist the brush. Shake out and then brush over the top few inches of the hair from the roots downwards.
It smoothes flyaways, keeping them in their place all day long but won’t leave hair with that heavy, hard feeling of spraying hairspray directly onto the hair.
