With her starring role in an upcoming blockbuster and seriously hot hubby, Ryan Reynolds, new mum Blake Lively certainly lives a more glamorous life than most – but she isn’t as pretentious as you might think.
Joking with reporters about motherhood and breastfeeding, the actress quipped she’s been rubbing her nipples with truffles every day. Why? So that her daughter James develops “a very well-balanced palate” and won’t “eat only beige food”. Good one, Blake!
Speaking to Allure, the actress (who’s actually much more down to earth than her truffle gag would suggest) also claimed breastfeeding’s “a full-time job,” saying she’s “like, driving down the road, pumping”. Yep, Blake may enjoy plenty of perks in life, but she still faces the same struggles as most new mums!
Even though her mother was only kidding about the truffles, we reckon little James is still going to eat pretty well (even if she isn’t being treated to gourmet flavours just yet).
In addition to her love of home cooking, Blake (who caused quite a stir last November with her bizarre kitchen hair remedy) is also a big fan of a ‘real’ beauty look.
Saying she doesn’t have time to put on much make-up, she believes “it’s about trying to figure out the features you’re proud of and want to highlight, rather than just painting on top of it”.
The same applies to her hair, which she apparently does herself (although her stunning MET gala ‘do, above, was a clear exception). Here’s how:
“I normally put it in a ballerina bun. If I want it to be more full, I’ll first put in some mousse and blow-dry the roots up a little bit. When you take the bun out, you want to tease it with a big hairbrush to give it oomph.”
But Blake still knows her to jazz up her look, favouring a slick of bold lippie for special occasions. Her lipstick of choice? L’Oreal Colour Riche Lipstick in ‘Pure Scarleto’, which she describes as “a watermelon-y color that’s subtle” but “pops”.
Sadly, this one’s not available here till June, but for anyone wishing to follow Blake’s beauty lead, Rimmel London Kate Moss Lasting Finish Lipstick in ‘#12’ and ModelCo Party Proof Matte Lipstick in ‘After Hours’ are pretty similar!
Do you think it’s hard to balance beauty and motherhood?
Something new to learn
I’m not sure where I know her from. Truffles on nips sounds like a waste of $ and good food.
