Holographic hair foam can colour your hair without bleach

Thanks to the ever-present unicorn makeup trend, beauty is going crazy for all things holographic. First it was holographic lipstick and iridescent makeup, but now your hair can get in on the unicorn action too, minus the bleach!

US brand IGK Haircare are known for their innovative hair products and now they’re taking things to the next level by releasing a holographic hair foam. The brand announced and demonstrated the new product via their co-founder’s Instagram Story.

Just like your most pigmented face highlighter, it’s a duochrome highlighter in mousse form. Finely milled mica and pearl extract in the formula work to catch the light for that epic colour-changing effect. Just apply the mousse to your hair with your fingers and you’re good to go!

The foam contains a hint of colour to give the holographic look an extra kick and we’ve gotta say, it’s pretty freaking cool. There are two colours so far – a pink that transitions to teal and a blue that changes to purple – and they show up on all hair colours.

The mousse will be available in January 2018 on the IGK website. They aren’t currently stocking any of their products in Australia, but since they’re currently stocked in Sephora in the US we’ll be holding out hope they land in an Aussie Sephora store soon.

In the meantime, if you’re looking for temporary hair colours there are plenty of options available here. We love the new pastel colours available with the L’Oréal Paris Colorista 1-Day Spray and L’Oréal Paris Colorista Wash Out for a temporary mane transformation.
