5 reasons the balayage hair trend is here to stay

By now we know that balayage is a favouite hair trend  among celebs, and a great way to get natural-looking highlights. And as we approach the chillier days of winter, this technique is definitely an ideal way to fight off the cold-weather blues. Even Stella Yousif, Stylist at Raw Anthony Nader says that balayage is an ‘effortless summer look as it’s light, natural and beachy’. She even divulged that she thinks it’s the perfect style for those wanting a softer way to colour their hair.

Check out five of the reasons we think the balayage trend isn’t going anywhere anytime soon…

#1: There are so many ways to do it

Balayage isn’t just one-size-fits-all you know! There are many different ways to take part in this trend – you just need to assess which option is the best for your colouring and the health of your hair. Some of the most popular options include: the original two-tone balayage, the less intense subtle balayage and Riviera lights trend – or reverse balayage, if you’re feeling a little crazy.

#2: It’s easier than ever to do it yourself

When balayage first hit the scene, it was off to the hairdresser if you wanted to take part in the two-tone trend. However, since balayage has been around for a while, it’s now oh so simple to get the look yourself at home. Thanks to DIY kits like L’Oréal Paris Préférence Wild Ombrés, you can take on this trend in the comfort of your own home. Better still, you can now give your hair as much added volume and length as people with single-hued hair, thanks to Headlines Hairpieces Balayage Add-Ons, which are made to blend in naturally with lightened ends.

#3: It ‘lifts’ your complexion

Check out the image of Ciara above. Her flawless complexion seems lifted thanks to the multi-dimensional effect of her ombré locks. No matter what colour skin tone you have, it can experience the same lifting effect that Ciara here is experiencing. The trick is using a number of different blonde hues to ensure the roots and ends of your hair are tied together in a natural-looking, gradual effect. If you’re not sure which colours to ask for, a chat to your hairdresser or a quick google search to find a celebrity with similar colouring to you (and balayage) should help.

#4: It can save you time and money

Many ladies simply don’t have the time or the money to hit the hairdresser every four-six weeks. This can be problematic, especially if you’re a natural brunette that has come to love her lightened ends. Balayage is a great solution, as it enables you to get more time between hairdresser visits without rocking terrible regrowth. Plus, fewer visits to the hairdresser means less money spent!

#5: It’s seasonaly appropriate

If you’re after a way to tap into the joys of summer in the sun, balayage is perfect. It provides you with instant ‘beach babe’ status and makes you look like a sun worshipper, without spending any actual time in the sun (because we all know how dangerous that can be without protection, right?), and in the cooler months, it can warm your complexion and give your face natural highlights, unlike a one dimensional colour that can appear to wash you out in winter!
