While the Fashion Week runways are always a delight, we can’t help but cast our curious eyes to the front row to check out the fashion pack’s hair and make-up.
And so far, they’ve definitely delivered the goods! Most celebs have kept their make-up pretty tame with soft, nude lips, subtly smoky eyes and groomed brows, but they’ve been killin’ it in the hair stakes.
Here’s how to master a mane look worthy of the front row…
ALEXA CHUNG’S LOW-MAINTENANCE TRESSES
In typical it-girl style, Alexa showed up to the J.W Anderson show at London Fashion Week with just-rolled-out-of-bed hair that looked both chic and effortless. If, like me, your bedhead hair looks far from this good, put a little time and effort into prepping your mane properly.
The night before, wash your hair and scrunch through a texturising product such as Redken 5th Avenue NYC Signature Look Fashion Waves 07, then go to bed. Upon waking, scrunch your hair again and spritz it with a shine spray like Indola Innova Finish Shine Spray.
GIGI HADID’S LOOSE UPDO
Are you a fan of easy-peasy styles? Gigi’s got you covered. She hit the Tory Burch show wearing her hair in a low-key, ‘undone’ updo, with textured, loose strands around the front.
After washing your hair, spray a heat protectant like the TRESemme Keratin Smooth Heat Protection Shine Spray through the lengths. Then, create a centre part and blow-dry straight. Pull your locks back into a low pony and let a few pieces fall loose around your face. Finally, sprinkle some texturising dust such as the MooseHead Demon Dust Thicken-Up Styling Powder into your roots, and work it in for added volume.
OLIVIA PALERMO’S SLEEK STRANDS
The queen of style made her grand entrance to the Moncler Gamme Rouge show in Paris in classic Olivia style: sporting sleek, straight strands with mega-watt shine. Well played, Palermo, well played.
Apply a frizz-taming lotion like KMS California Tame Frizz Smoothing Lotion through damp locks and blow-dry straight, being sure to direct the nozzle of the hair-dryer downwards. Finish with a dose of glossy goodness by smoothing a couple of drops of argan oil through your mane. We love Moroccan Natural Argan Oil.
DIANNA AGRON’S MESSY TOP-KNOT
This messy updo may look like a cinch to re-create, but don’t be fooled. A ‘do like this takes a lot of staying power, and we bet Dianna took steps to ensure her hair wouldn’t come undone in the front row at Carolina Herrera.
To copy her look, work a volumising mousse like Schwarzkopf Extra Care Styling Push Up Volume Mousse through your roots and lengths, then tip your head upside-down to blow-dry. Gather your hair into a loose ponytail and tie up with a hair elastic. Loosely twist the pony around the hair elastic and secure to the base of the elastic with bobby pins. Finish with a spritz of medium-hold hairspray – we recommend Goldwell Styling Brilliance Magic Finish.
POPPY DELEVINGNE’S CASUAL TEXTURED WAVES
Poppy nailed the casual and styled yet oh-so-undone waves we all know and love. And where better to showcase this hair perfection than front row at Chanel at Paris Fashion Week, right?
Prep damp locks with a heat protectant and curl hold spray like the Garnier Fructis Style Curl Control Thermo-Active Texturising Spray. Then, blow-dry. Create waves using a curling wand (we love the Cloud Nine The Wand), and run your fingers through to separate the waves. Finish with a spritz of sea salt spray (we love VO5 Give Me Texture Dry Texturising Spray) to add some rough texture.
