We’ve been busy trialling goodies in the name of research, and found some absolute gems to share with you: a tool that takes the guilt out of heat styling, a fuss-free tanning mousse (no more sticky feeling!), a repair serum and one super-moisturising body wash.
It’s a hard job, but someone’s gotta do it.
ghd platinum
bh’s Astrid says:
Since my hair is pretty straight naturally, I don’t style it on a day-to-day basis. But when I do make the effort, I prefer using tools that are easy to use and won’t damage my locks. Working in the beauty industry, I’ve had access to the snazzy ghd platinum since April, so I’ve had a fair bit of time to play around with it. Thanks to its Tri-Zone technology, it’s safe for hair, delivers ah-mazing styling results and is proven to reduce hair breakage by over 50%. As a bit of a forgetful person, I also love that the styler has sleep mode, so there’s far less chance of me burning down the house, and has universal voltage, which means no more last-minute dash to buy an adaptor at the airport. Another great feature is the wishbone hinge that aligns the heat plates and keeps hair perfectly positioned while styling. Ladies, say hello to your one stroke wonder!
Rimmel London Sun Shimmer Self Tan Mousse
bh’s Carli says:
There are so many things to like about this self-tan! Firstly, the smell is delightful. And not just because it doesn’t smell like a regular fake tan, but it actually has a lovely scent. I was also impressed with how quickly the tan dried after application. There was no tacky feeling and I could easily get dressed about five minutes after applying it without worrying about the colour transferring to my clothes. I tried the medium shade, and the colour on my (currently pale olive) skin tone was really natural – it gave my skin a bit of extra oomph. I’d probably go for the darker shade if I wanted to look more like I’d just returned from two weeks on the beach.
Dove Aqua Moisture Nourishing Body Wash
bh’s Sam says:
I’ve been using the Dove Original Deodorant for years, but I’d never tried any of the brand’s body washes. Now, I’m a convert! The Aqua Moisture Nourishing Body Wash has a similar smell, but with a bit of a difference. It foams up really well on the body, so I not only use it as a daily wash but also to shave my legs and underarms. A little goes a long way, too, so it’s definitely good value. I think I’d purchase the 1L in future because it comes with a pump, which I find much more convenient. My skin feels nice and soft after showering and the scent does linger for a little while. It’s a great pick for those who love body washes with a fresh, clean smell.
Thalgo Bio-Sensitive – Bio-Repair Serum
bh’s Rosie says:
As someone who battles sensitive and reactive skin, I’m always on the hunt for products that will help to calm and protect my skin, so I was really happy to trial this repairing serum. I’ve been told that the protective barrier on my skin has weakened, resulting in redness and rosacea on my cheeks. The great thing about this concentrated gel is that it actually works to strengthen the skin’s barrier so it’s able to resist harsh environmental elements. I’ve been using the smooth gel morning and night after cleansing and I find that it has an instant cooling effect on my skin, and leaves it soft and smooth. After using it for about three weeks, I’ve definitely noticed that my skin is far less reactive and red – especially in the mornings.
