5 celebrity beauty blunders you can learn from

Celebrities are an impeccable breed. Generally speaking, they seem to be free of flaws, are rarely spotted out of their Sunday best attire, and always look ridiculously (and frustratingly) perfect. But even Hollywood A-listers aren’t completely immune to a beauty blunder – and the good news is – you can learn from their mistakes. From Lea Michele’s chest concealer clanger and J-Lo’s extension nightmare, to Lady Gaga’s run-in with a fake tan faux pas, there’s a bunch of beauty lessons among these celebrity blunders!

Blunder #1: Forgetting the face

Pairing a white face with a super-bronzed bod is never ideal. Self-tan is all about a natural glow, and there’s nothing more unnatural than looking like Neapolitan ice cream from head to toe.

Lesson: When you’re applying faux glow, don’t forget your face like Lady Gaga did. If you’re hesitant to apply fake tan to your face, check out this simple tutorial from bh’s Sam. Don’t like fake tan on your face? Warm up your complexion using a matte bronzer.

Blunder #2: Ignoring your extensions

Extensions are a fabulous way to give your hair extra length or volume and are a beauty must-have for loads of celebs! But that doesn’t mean they’re not guilty of forgetting to style their extensions along with their natural hair. Here, J-Lo has some seriously effortless waves happening, but those dead straight extensions peeping out the bottom are confusing the look!

Lesson: If you’re going to rock extensions, make sure you style them the same way as your natural hair to ensure a more seamless ‘do!

Blunder #3: Going too light

We’ve seen under-eye mishaps many times when it comes to overusing concealer, but Lea’s chest mishap is next level. Her blemish concealing efforts on her chest remind us that there’s most certainly an art to this practice!

Lesson: When you’re covering up, always make sure you match your skin tone, especially when you’ve been bronzing up a storm!

Blunder #4: Going too dark

Oh, Christina. She’s made some questionable fashion choices over the years (remember those pants from her ‘Dirrty’ music video?) and she’s never been afraid to experiment with beauty looks (never forget that giant perm). In this case and in true Christina style she’s gone a little over the top with her fake tan. It’s so much darker than her natural skin colour, so rather than giving her a healthy glow, it looks super fake (and a little silly).

Lesson: Stick within two to three shades darker than your natural skin colour and you’ll look fresh and healthy!

Blunder #5: Unsightly regrowth

We all know Rita can rock a bold lip like no other and she’s no stranger to experimenting with hair colour. In this case, her gorgeous platinum blonde locks are being overshadowed by the awkward regrowth peeking through.

Lesson: Always touch up your regrowth before a big event or alternatively, go back to your roots and strip the dyed colour from your hair.

bh recommends: Garnier Nutrisse (for fresh colour) or ColourB4 Frequent Use (to get back to your roots)
